The bike was shipped the bike to Todd Rasmussen in Oklahoma for a complete restoration and I gave Todd instructions to build me a show quality bike to the highest standards while maintaining absolute originality from the factory wherever possible. Up for bidding is a 1973 BMW R60 / 5 motorcycle. This motorcycle was from an estate, found in the back of the garage covered by a mountain of bankets. Apparently, the bike was running well when last driven, sometime about 3-4 years ago. There is no battery, so we haven't tried to start it. The wheels roll freely, engine isn't frozen or anything, seems to have compression when kicking, there are no drips/leaks, tires are decent and hold air well, it does come with the keys. The title was issued to the owner in 1980, and he had it ever since. That's 36 years with the same owner, a buyers dream. The odometer reads 97671, and the BMW dealer sticker from the last oil change, on the inside rear fender, reads 97409. So, I believe the mileage is probably accurate, and there's no reason to think that the bike wouldn't still run fine. I can see that the right side cover is missing, but otherwise this bike looks to be pretty complete. It even has the original tool kit and users manual under the seat. All of the lights/lens are good, except for the tail light lens which has been slightly broken. The seat is in great shape, with no rips or tears. I took a lot of pictures, so that you'd get a good idea of the bikes overall condition. If you're looking at this bike, you know how rare these "Toasters" are becoming, as they only made them for a couple of years. I am listing the bike with a very reasonable starting price, well below current NADA blue book values for this model, and the high bidder will get to take this home. Looking at part prices for this bike, I would guess that one could even just part it out and make a tidy profit. In my opinion, this is not by any means just a parts bike. This should be given some tlc and ridden!! This is a NO RESERVE auction. I have 100% LIFETIME feedback as a seller, so no worries here. 2010 BMW S1000RR currently set up for track days or club racing. Suspension is stock but has been revalved and set up for a 170 lb rider. Bike is very stable and handles well at speed, no issues at all. Motor is stock , only mods to bike are Bazzaz engine management system with tune, Sato rearsets and Arrow full system. I have most stock parts including signals and pssgr foot pegs so converting it back to street trim shouldn't be too difficult.. Bike is currently registered in CA as a non op track bike. Cosmetically it has been on the track has some scuffs and dings , body work is not perfect, but it is priced accordingly. I know very little about the bikes history. I bought it with 10000 miles on it from an AFM racer who used it as I have , as a street and occas track day bike. He claims to have never raced the bike or laid it down, but I cant guarantee this. I have never crashed on this bike and put another nearly 9k trouble free miles on it. I just did the very expensive 18000 mile service. The bike has no warranty expressed or implied, however if you find that I have misrepresented it in any way you can return it to me within 1 wk of purchase. BMW Reports Q2 2014 Financial Results
Tue, 05 Aug 2014BMW reported an 11.2% growth in motorcycle sales revenue for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014, thanks to a new best-ever quarterly record of 42,259 motorcycles sold. The record sales quarter also led to a record of 70,978 motorcycles sold in the first half of 2014, the most motorcycles BMW has sold in a six-month period in the company’s 90-year history in the business. The second quarter sales result represents a 5.1% increase on the 40,209 motorcycles sold in the same quarter last year.

BMW HP4 Gets New ABS that Works in Corners
Fri, 18 Jul 2014BMW has developed a new anti-lock braking system designed to work when a motorcycle is leaned over into a corner. The new ABS Pro system will initially be offered as a retrofit upgrade on the BMW HP4 sportbike, but it’s likely only a matter of time before the technology becomes available on other models. The ABS Pro uses the same sensors already employed by BMW’s Dynamic Traction Control and Dynamic Damping Control electronic suspension, both of which are already available on the HP4.
Brough Superior to Make Moto2 Debut at Silverstone

Backed by insurance company Bennetts, the one-off entry will feature British Supersport racer Luke Mossey riding the Taylormade Carbon 2 racebike. Led by California-based but British-bred Paul Taylor and John Keogh, the Taylormade project was started to rethink the spark the impending relaunch of the Brough Superior brand as well as to explore new ways of designing prototype race machines.

Melandri got taken out of the second Portimao race after his Aprilia teammate Sylvain Guintoli slid into his RSV4. Melandri looked eager to make up for that DNF, leading every lap of Race One on his way to his third win of the season.

2015 BMW K1600GT and K1600GTL Get Traction Control as Standard Equipment
Fri, 04 Jul 2014BMW is updating its big six-cylinder touring bikes with traction control as standard equipment and a number of new optional add-ons including keyless remote ignition. Previously available as part of BMW’s factory-installed Safety Package option, the Dynamic Traction Control system will now be standard on all 2015 K1600GT and K1600GTL models. The system continuously monitors rear wheel traction during acceleration, stepping in when it senses excessive wheel spin.
