BMW R-Series description

1974 BMW R90/6 900 cc classic motorcyle.
VIN 4040399

This was my husband's bike, which he rode daily as weather permitted. He greatly loved riding this BMW and planned to completely restore it. The bike and extras have been in covered storage for a little over 3 years (thus some dust and rust). The motorcycle has been started, and does run, but will need a new battery which I will supply. The title states the mileage to be 93,047, the odometer reading does not match at 91,858 miles. It has not been tampered with, so probably not working.

Extras include the saddlebags, new tire, extra mufflers, better seat (the one currently on the bike is torn), headlight & chrome ring, plexi windshield, fairing with plexi windshield (the clear plastic is cracked), rack, and extra clutch cables.

The buyer is responsible for pick up. The motorcycle is sold as is, no warranty, no returns. Deposit requested of buyer at end of auction, balance due upon pickup... cash only.

Please feel free to write with any questions you may have. If I don't know the answer, I will try to obtain it as quickly as possible.

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.

Kymco to Supply BMW with i3 Electric Car Range Extender and New 400cc Scooter Engine

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The automotive world has been buzzing of late about BMW‘s upcoming i3 electric car having an optional range extending gas-powered motorcycle engine. As our sister site Autoguide.com reports, the i3 will be available with an optional two-cylinder BMW motorcycle engine to power a generator which can recharge the electric motor and extend the vehicle’s range to 250 miles compared to a range of 60-90 miles relying just on the battery. It turns out that two-cylinder motorcycle engine will actually be provided to BMW by Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco.

Hero MotoCorps Hires Ex-BMW Designer Braunsperger

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

Hero MotoCorp has hired former BMW designer Markus Braunsperger to lead the Indian company’s research and development division. Braunsperger once held a similar position with BMW in the early 2000s, developing models such as the K1200S before moving on to BMW’s automobile division where he helped design the 5, 6 and 7 series sedans as well as the X3, X5 and X7 SUVs. Braunsperger will head Hero’s new R&D center in Rajasthan, India, starting in October.
