You are bidding on a 1976 BMW R75/6 motorcycle. I have owned this bike for 1 year. It had been previously owned by a local attorney who had it serviced, gas drained and parked it at the end of 2004. It had been sitting in a conditioned garage until I purchased it. It has a clean Indiana title. I checked all of the vitals, filled with fresh gas and installed a battery. The bike started and runs. I have not taken any of the components off of the motor, or done any type of internal inspection. I have ridden it about 15 miles. I did rebuild the front master cylinder which was leaking and it now works perfectly. I bought it as a project bike but decided to sell because of an out of state job transfer. There are some scratches in the paintwork and a couple small dents in the tank. The pictures tell the story. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional photos. Restored, numbers matching 1976 R75/6 BMW 750cc Airhead with 36,814 original miles. This motorcycle has no dings or dents; all new paint/clear coat with hand-painted pin stripes. Garage kept Arizona bike with no rust. Rare S-Fairing with working clock, working volt meter and new windshield. The top end has been resealed per factory specs. Continental tires have 1500 miles on them. All rubber pieces on the bike have been replaced. New cables, alcohol proof float kits and mirrors. Wheels have been trued and ride very nicely. All engine seals and o-rings replaced. All new handlebar switch pods on both left and right sides. DynaIII electronic ignition. Koni shocks in the rear and Progressive springs up front. Reynolds Rack with a very nice newer set of locking Krauser hard panniers included. The bike also has the original toolkit, owners manual, air pump and BMW factory rag. Valves were adjusted 1K ago. The engine oil, gearbox oil and final drive oil just changed. *Mileage may vary a little (~15 miles/week), as I take it out for short Sunday cruises.**Corbin seat shows some wear, but is comfortable. 1976 R90/6 R90 1045cc big bore from San Jose BMW Toaster Cafe builder I ship! (1976)
I am really in love with BMW airheads right now and have a couple projects going. The plan was to make this into a cafe or use the engine for another project and part out the rest. The previous owner put on a big bore kit that really gives this bike some grunt! The Mikunis could use some top end tuning but are much simpler to work over the Bings I'm used to. The body has been rattle canned and looks ok from a distance but very obvious when you get closer. For me, I'd respray if I was to keep it. There are a couple issues that are noteworthy. The bike does drip a bit of oil after being ridden. I don't know exactly where from but plan on some new gaskets if you want to fix this. The previous owner rode it like this and wasn't concerned, just kept her topped off. I'm very picky and would re seal if it was me. also, the bolt that attaches the valve cover in the center is loose. It's not needed to hold the valve cover on, but should be taken care of. Again, previous owner didn't mind, I'd prefer to fix it. I do have the speedo/tach combo if you would like to have it with the bike. The wiring is all there, just not on the bike currently. It shows 18.5K miles. The head and tail lights along with signals are working although no front signals installed. I've priced it based on the current condition and well under parts value. I'm sure the smartest thing I could do is part out the bike but It's too nice to do that. I love this style of bike, tank and especially the peanut style heads. 1977 BMW R100/RS You have a chance to bid on this 1977 BMW R100RS, serial#6180044. An early first year model built 08/76 and originally owned by Malcolm Forbes. This is the first model year for the R100RS with the wind tunnel designed frame mounted fairing which all sport and touring motorcycles would follow to this day. Even today this is one of if not the best fairing ever put on a motorcycle. I have owned this bike about 25 years and did the restoration about 10-12 years ago. I started with a numbers matching 1 of 200 40mm big pipe/big valve bike in vgc. I purchased the bike with 6016 miles and pretty much rode it all over the country before the restoration. Since then it has been ridden a few hundred miles per year now showing 36,XXX miles. The bike runs as good as it looks. No expense has ever been spared on maintenance or during the restoration. The bike has CC ported and polished heads with hardened seats, Dyna3 ignition, carbs completely rebuilt with alcohol proof independent floats, lightened and balanced flywheel with all new clutch components. Wheels and chassis have all new bearings, all new rubber, seals, cables, etc. Everything works exactly as it should except the clock which loses some time lately. If bike does not sell right away I may get the clock fixed. FIM Eases WSBK Homologation Requirements
Sat, 22 Feb 2014With the 2014 World Superbike Championship now under way, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) announced a change in the homologation procedure for new motorcycles entering the series. The new regulations requires a minimum of 125 units produced in order to begin the homologation process. By the end of the first year of participation, manufacturers must have produced 250 units.

Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT
Wed, 12 Feb 2014BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.

Tue, 04 Feb 2014The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) reported a modest 1.4% growth in U.S. motorcycle and scooter sales in 2013, with consumers purchasing 465,783 vehicles. The sales data represents numbers from the MIC’s member brands which include BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group (which includes Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa), Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

Ural models now enjoy the benefits of electronic fuel injection (EFI), disc brakes (on all three wheels) and an hydraulic steering damper. Ural claims the motorcycles have received “dozens of other upgrades,” but did not provide details as to nature of those upgrades.
