This is a beautiful Norton bike! I purchased it from the original owner. The bike sat in his shop for 8 years. I cleaned the carbs, points, adj. valves and it fired on third kick.] The bike was blue when I got it, (not my favorite color) so I had it professionally painted with decal's clear coated...real nice! The bike is real solid, all numbers match. I believe it is stock, the original owner said the top end has only 1,000 miles since overhaul and I believe him. My uncle bought this bike brand new from the california norton dealer in 1974 it has always been garaged and maintained, he had over 40 motorcycles and is in failing health due to age, he asked me to sell a few bikes for him, i dont know everything about this bike but if you have a question i can find out, other than that this bike usually starts on 1 kick and is in awesome condition, the front brake doesnt work and it probly should have a carb rebuild as its been sitting most its life, but it runs great and is surprisingly fast. If you are interested in a vintage unrestored classic British motorcycle, I think this is as good as it will ever get. Any nicer ones are sitting in someone's museum. OK, I've owned this bike for 39 years, bought in 1977 and I need to pass it on. The bike has a Boyer ignition, Mikuni VM 34 carb with a 240 pilot, Barnett clutch, non-sumping valve, fairly new Metzler tires, chain and everything else you see in the pictures including 39 years worth of spare parts and manuals. I had the top end done, the tires and chain maybe 500 miles ago; battery is to spec and two years old. As a younger man I've had the bike up to Jersey a few times, "tried" to outrun a Georgia state trooper back in the day and, well you guys can imagine the rest. I'm a semi-retired mining engineer and my body just doesn't cooperate like it used to so there you go. I know the bike inside and out and it is in great form; no runs, drips or errors. Sure, I coulda' washed it before I took the pics but just didn't feel like it. Some of the parts are new, used and/or original to this bike, i.e., from the dual Amal configuration and other modifications. I had also rebuilt a sister to this bike which I sold to a chap in New Zealand a few years ago which also increased the parts inventory. Norton Signs Cameron Donald to Race Isle of Man TT
Thu, 20 Mar 2014Norton Motorcycles has signed two-time TT winner Cameron Donald to a three-year contract to race in the Isle of Man TT. Donald will ride the Norton SG3 sportbike in the Dainese Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT classes, starting both races seeded 19th. That matches the number of the late Steve Hislop, the last Norton rider to win on the Isle of Man with a victory in the 1992 Senior TT race.

The auction price more than doubled the top selling estimate and set a new world record for a Manx sold at auction. Eighty percent of the 436 lots offered sold at the auction totaling $2,168,314 Hot on its heels came the technological marvel from an earlier era that produced the sale’s best result when the 250cc Moto Morini Grand Prix racer from the 1960s fetched $145,081.
