I've had this about 13 years, and it's gotten plenty of use, as the odometer will show. A few years ago I bought a later Goldwing and a new V-Strom, so this hasn't been ridden much since, and I really need the garage space. I'll try to be thorough and honest, so this might get a little verbose. I don't think the bike looks quite as good in person as it does in the pictures, but I've kept it very clean cosmetically, and the flaws are very minor. I've added the full-resolution versions of these photos to my Pbase page, so you can view them in detail. Just go to Pbase and look for robertbarr. It's the last gallery, on Page 3. The bike starts immediately in all conditions, and runs well. It's never needed much; I replaced the clutch friction plates about six years ago, and I reworked all the bar controls / switches, but otherwise, just routine maintenance. The carbs have never been messed with; it still has the EPA-mandated plastic limiters on the mixture screws. Typical fuel economy is 46. The inside of the fuel tank looks like new. Brakes function like new. Shocks are a little soft. 1986 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk Motorcycle Runs and Looks great (1986)
I have had this bike for 13 years and just don't ride it enough. I got it for friends to ride when they come up, but that has rarely happened. The tank, sides,tail and fender have all ben professionally repainted and also have some light scratches but no dents whatsoever. The seat has been professionally reupholstered be sargent seat co. The seat has NO blemishes and looks better than factory new. The tires have over 3/4 tread and the chain is in good shape. The brakes all work perfectly. The clutch works great. It shifts without a problem with no skipping or weirdness. The front shocks have been rebuilt within 7 years or so and do not leak. The rear shocks seem just fine and don't leak. the horn works. the turn signals work. The headlight works and dims just fine. The cover for the bright/dim switch is missing but still works fine. The rims are not bent at all. The bike has side and center stand which works fine. This is a 1986 motorcycle and the frame is dirty along with the rims. There are signs of wear here and there. e bay charges 60. bucks for the auction and I'm starting it at 760.00 so I can get at least 700 for here. she IS worth at least that. She looks really nice. I hope she finds a good new home. In her early life she was a commuter bike in Illinois taking someone to work everyday. 1982 Honda Nighthawk 450. Great condition, runs great. (1982)
This bike looks and runs great, especially for it's age. Chrome and paint very shiny. No tears or or visible wear on the seat. New hand grips, and a new set of fork seals come with the bike. I purchased this bike a year ago at a garage sale. It had been sitting in the guy's dry basement since 2005. I've been restoring it and cruising around since I got it running. Title comes with bike. No major work to get it running other than cleaning out carberators, replacing spark plugs, changing oil, and lubricating chain. Tach is stuck, but tach cable turns as it should. Small paint chip in gas tank (1/4"). Pipes are blued at the heads, but nothing out of the ordinary. Key switch works, but can be turned on with anything flat. There's no rust on the entire machine, other than a little surface rust where the pipes are blued. It has good power for a 450 and gets incredible fuel mileage. A very light machine, good for beginners, cruising, or commuting to work. All lights and blinkers work. It will need a license plate if buyer intends to drive it home (or at your own risk). Will accept cash in person, or a certified or cashier's check. Bike will need to be picked up at my home in Coldwater OH.
