Chopper Chopper description

1980 Yamaha xs650 custom chopper. This is an original, and you won't find another like it! It runs great, and needs nothing. It’s been recently serviced. New title/ current registration. Private owner. Many aftermarket/custom made parts by Scott Gordon Engineering, Hugh's Hand built, Panic Cycles, MikesSX and more. Original miles on engine before chop job were almost 9k (and I do possess the original speedo). I've put about another 1k miles freeway/surface street, since. Everything on it has been either rebuilt/cleaned/flushed or changed at least three times in this last year (so yes, we worked very hard to make this thing perfect). This beauty has been re-jetted and fine tuned. It’s mechanically as sound as it gets- save for small oil seepage on the left side cylinder (maybe ½ teaspoon a week). Besides that, it sounds throaty and loud. And is amazing to both see, and ride.

The thing that makes me most proud of this bike is the way that it performs. I manage a custom/vintage motorcycle repair shop in Los Angeles, called Atlantis Motor. We see a lot of chopper/ bobber/ custom bikes purchased via eBay/Craigslist; that are in very poor to mediocre running condition. Quite often, it looked like a gem in the pictures with the fancy paint job/ polished cases and wrapped exhaust, but didn’t run for fuck! Rest assured; this bike has been meticulously gone over, again and again; and is in optimum running/ riding condition.

The Ride of a Lifetime by Paul Teutul Sr.

Tue, 10 Mar 2009

According to the New York Post, David Letterman is a big motorcycle fan and could watch the same bike being built all week long. One of Letterman’s bikes did appear in the September 2008 issue of American Iron Magazine and he also wrote the forward to Paul Teutul Sr.’s new book “The Ride of a Lifetime” so I guess he walks the walk and talks the talk. If you don’t already know who Paul Teutul Sr.
