Yamaha V Max description

Yamaha said it best; The V is for Velocity.

1198cc, DOHC, Liquid-cooled, V-Boost Equipped, 16-valve, V-4 beast, multi-time winner of the best muscle bike award.

20th Anniversary edition includes ghost-flamed Shift Red paint scheme, blacked-out rimes with red pinstripes.

This V-Max is very well maintained. Newer tires with 4mm tread on the front, 6mm tread on the rear. Brake pads are new with barely any wear. Rotors and braking system are in great shape. The bike has not been modified from stock (rare for a V-Max of it's vintage). Only the tasteful Yamaha windshield (no longer available) and a friction lock cruise control have been added. Oil and coolant are fresh. Exhaust and carburetor jetting are stock and properly synchronized, runs very smooth. Clutch is in good shape, does not slip. Checked over by certified Yamaha mechanic, 20+ years experience working on VMax. Shaft oil is clean, no issues with engagement of drive shaft. The bike is unmolested and ready to ride.

The only issues of note is the flaking of the clear on the scoops and valve cover(a relatively common issue to the bike.) Pictures included to show. The odometer on the bike is inaccurate, having been replaced at 8978 miles. The former owner said that the odometer stopped showing speed accurately (by 15-20mph) so he replaced it. We have possession of the original odometer and it will go with the bike.

Title is clear Illinois.

Shipping can be arranged to anywhere, feel free to call for a quote. We're happy to work with your shipping provider to makes sure the bike gets to you safely.

The bike is at a Yamaha Dealership, 44 years Yamaha experience. It is for sale locally, auction can end without notice. Test rides are available. Illinois buyers and some states that have reciprocal tax will pay sales tax at finalization of purchase. Call to find out more. All sales subject to a $58.00 documentation fee.

Stoner explains the tank slapper

Mon, 03 Oct 2011

Casey Stoner looked all set to win at Motegi, after translating his pole position into an early race-lead. But coming over the crest on the back straight his bike momentarily lost control in a tank slapper. Regaining composure the championship leader was forced to pump his brakes to get the pads back in place, with the rear-wheel bouncing in the air he ran out of time and space to make the 90 degree right hander and was forced to run into the gravel.
