Polaris Reports Q1 2014 Sales Results

Polaris Industries reported a 52% increase in motorcycle revenues over the first quarter of 2014, thanks in large part to the addition of Indian Motorcycles. Motorcycle sales generated $78.9 million in sales revenue for Polaris, compared to $51.8 million in the same quarter last year. The key thing to remember however, is Indian Motorcycles wasn’t relaunched until late summer, so last year’s first quarter sales were made up almost entirely of Victory Motorcycles.

When John Reynolds was pushing me hard in the late nineties for BSB titles he was always polite and would happily stop to chew the fat and talk about the weather. But that was the limit of our friendship as he never wanted to like rivals too much, just in case it affected his competitive edge. Legends Ride Stops Sturgis Traffic

This is a small sample of the participants in Monday’s annual Legends Ride from Deadwood to Sturgis. Hundreds of bikes thundered through the Black Hills toward Sturgis on Monday afternoon, creating a cacophony not heard in these parts since, well, last year. The sixth annual Legends Ride draws thousands of riders, spectators and celebrities to the historic city of Deadwood, South Dakota each year on a charitable pilgrimage to the Buffalo Chip Campground, and organizers said Monday’s edition was likely the largest ever.
