2006 Triumph Tiger, Low Miles nice, affordable Adventure Bike with side cases - The Tiger is one of the ultimate do-it-all motorcycles that can tour continents two-up, commute effortlessly or scythe a set of corners. At its core is a seminal fuel injected, 955 cc, three-cylinder engine – revised for 2006 with a new cylinder head, crankcases and visually neater exterior – punching out a solid 104 bhp peak power output matched by a walloping 67 . torque. Further refinement is added by a backlash eliminator gear and slicker shifting gearbox. The Tiger’s motor is the very definition of real-world drivability. Its character instantly involves the rider and its unflagging, completely linear response can always be relied upon. An upright, comfortable riding position gives a commanding view of the road ahead and scenery flashing by. The Tiger’s quick steering frame geometry has rake set at 25.8 degrees, trail at 92 mm with a wheelbase of 59.6 inches. The compliant front forks employ single rate springs while the rear shock’s spring preload can be remotely adjusted. The cast, 14-spoke, aluminum wheels take tubeless tires – 110/80 V19 front and 150/70 V17 rear. The Tiger’s rugged enduro styling exudes toughness and the far horizon is the Tiger’s destination. It thrives on an all-day riding challenge and lives for the journey, two-up and fully loaded. But when it comes to a sinuous, twisting switchback or daily commute to work the Tiger’s equally at home. With practical touches like the large 6.3-gallon US fuel tank, lockable hard cases and hand guards as standard plus the efficient, frame mounted fairing to keep the windblast and weather at bay the Tiger’s usability factor multiplies. The seat height also adjusts through a 20 mm range. As with all Triumphs, an extensive range of accessories is available – including soft luggage and fender extensions. Silver frame and wheels complement the three color options of Jet Black, reintroduced by popular demand, Aluminum Silver and Caspian Blue. It’s been said that the journey is sometimes as important as the destination. The Tiger’s one of those bikes that helps prove this theory. There are very few genuine all-round motorcycles around – the Tiger is one of them.

The Triple's ready, three days early!

Mark Forsyth returned our Bonneville long termer today, and the Speed Triple was ready at the triumph factory to be brought back with him…three days early. Here’s a picture of it ‘wedged’ in the back of our new Ford Wildtrak. The bad news is, it won’t arrive at our London office until Friday, patience Andy, patience.

There is lots of shiny new metal on show at Motorcyclelive this year but for me it’s the new Triumph Daytona 675 that steals the show.  We’ve been starved of brand new models in the Supersports segment for years but for me the latest Trumpet has made the wait worthwhile. And if its performance matches its looks then I reckon the 2013 bike of the year is a foregone conclusion.  The sleek curvy nose contrasts perfectly with the more pointy angular rear end and new side mounted silencer. It is lighter, more powerful and revs harder with much work on on mass centralisation to further improve handling.  Few of us have a whole lot of spare cash these days but £8899 for the standard model seems a fair price for such an awesome bike. That said I’d have to consider selling the granny and granddad to find the extra £1700 for the 675R.  Available early next year, and surely the perfect all round track day tool, this beauty comes with upgraded suspension, brakes, ABS, a quickshifter and some nice carbon detailing. The white 675R on display at the show looked even better in the flesh than previous images I’d seen so be careful or you might find yourself handing over a deposit. With no money left from the Triumph stand you’ll need your six special numbers to come up for my second favourite show item the AGV Pista GP Project 46. Although road legal this extremely light, full carbon helmet is designed especially for racing with a huge field of vision, extensive ventilation and superb ergonomics. It also comes with earplugs which suggests there may be some compromise in the noise department but it is still an incredible piece of engineering. At £799, this special Pista is also an incredible price but there will only be one hundred available and Raceways Yamaha reckon they are going fast.        

2013 Triumph Trophy Spy Photos

Spanish magazine Motociclismo has acquired photos of what it says will be a new 2013 Triumph Trophy 1200 sport-tourer. According to Motociclismo, the 2013 Triumph Trophy 1200 uses many of the same components as the recently launched Triumph Tiger Explorer, including its 1215cc inline Triple engine and shaft drive. The Trophy 1200 will likely also get traction control and ABS like the Tiger Explorer, as well as touring-oriented niceties such as an adjustable windscreen, heated grips, panniers and cruise control.
