Harley-Davidson Softail description

I bought this bike as the 3rd owner. All 3 of us garaged the bike and apparently, none of us rode very much, putting on an average of 2,500 miles a year.

The first owner added 99% of the decorative items and I think he did an excellent job.

The second owner had the engine work done at Fink's Harley in Zanesville Ohio, upgrading the heads, cams & computer programing while taking the displacement to 103 cubic inches. And yes, the service info is in their computer system, which I know because I looked it up myself.

When I bought the bike in the summer of 2014 I did practically nothing to it. Why would I? It was already beautiful and I didn't see any point in messing with success. I did take off the passenger seat, put on the bib & luggage rack, installed longer stem mirrors, wider foot pegs & the two tool-bags.

There are a very large number of small, individual upgrades on this bike. Braided stainless brake lines, pressure release valves in the upgraded heads... It starts to get silly to try to list everything but the pictures do a pretty good job of showing it all.

The biggest things I did were to upgrade to the modern electric speedometer and replace both tires.

Each spring I brought it to Centennial Harley-Davidson in Pataskala OH to have the oil changed, the bike inspected and any minor thing taken care of.

So... garage kept, dealer serviced and lightly ridden, which is why the bike looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Over the past few years, especially since the height of the economic crisis, more and more women have turned to motorcycling both as a way to save on fuel costs, but also to experience the joys of the open road. In an article recently published by Consumer Reports, some tips are provided for women looking to enter the sport for the first time. The first bit of advice is to “Sit on a lot of different bikes first,” says Angela Annamalai of Shelby’s Powersports in Bronx, New York.

Harley-Davisdon Claims US Market Share Lead for Women, Minorities and Young Adults

Mon, 22 Apr 2013

For some time now, Harley-Davidson has been trying to fight the stereotyped image of its customer base as being predominantly older, Caucasian males. Harley-Davidson‘s Stereotypical Harley campaign became a big part of the company’s advertising efforts in 2012, featuring real Harley-Davidson owners and showcasing the large diversity of its riders. Fighting against preconceptions can be difficult but Harley-Davidson has some numbers to prove its motorcycles are popular with other demographics including young adults, women and minorities.
