Harley-Davidson Other description

1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR 1000, XLCR1000 - This bike is 99% ORIGINAL Please call with any questions you may have... One of our friendly Sales Saff will answer any questions you may have The Harley-Davidson XLCR1000 is unique in the range of models built by the famous Milwaukee, Wisconsin, company, in that it is definitely not built on the same laid back lines as its tourer stable-mates. In fact the CR part of the title stands for Café Racer, and the Harley is unquestionably one of the most aggressive looking Café racers available. Although outwardly different from the other Harleys, the XLCR still has the famous V-twin engine which, with very undersquare dimensions of 81 mm X968 mm, displaces 997-5cc. A45degree unit, the engine features a 9:1 compression ratio, simple pushrod operated valves, a single 38 mm Keihin carburetor and all the reliability one could possibly need. Unsophisticated it may be, but the engine could pull a house down with its 68 bhp at 6200 rpm and, although undisclosed, probably around 60 lb ft of torque. Although the torque figure is not quoted by the company they do say that the secret amount is produced at 3500 rpm, well down the rev scale but just the thing for instant acceleration in any of the XLCRs four gears. An electric start is the only concession to modern times in the engine and it copes surprisingly well with getting the engine under way. It has an off-beat exhaust note, it rumbles and shakes and leaves the rider in no doubt as to its capabilities.

Harley-Davidson has revealed a new member to its Dyna family featuring quick change convertibility from touring to cruiser mode. As we expected, the new Harley-Davidson Dyna Switchback features hard saddlebags and fork-mounted windshield that can be removed quickly and without tools, allowing it to change from a touring motorcycle to a cruiser, and back again. The Dyna Switchback uses Harley-Davidson’s Twin Cam 103 engine, 2-into-1 chrome exhaust, and five-spoke cast aluminum wheels with full fenders.

New Indian Commercial Pokes Fun At Harley-Davidson

The big news in the motorcycle world this year is the return of Indian motorcycles. Earlier this year, parent company Polaris unveiled the all-new Thunderstroke 111 engineas a sneak peak to the 2014 Chief which is set to make its official debut at Sturgis at the beginning of August. To prepare for this momentous occasion, Indian produced this commercial, which takes a nice, healthy jab at the iconic Motor Company. Adds a New Editor

While some moto publications are cutting back and constricting, is proud to announce the addition of a new editor to our masthead. MO readers, meet Jon Langston, our new Associate Editor. I knew Langston was a cool cat when I first met him at the Harley-Davidson Blackline unveiling in January 2011.
