Triumph Speed Triple description

2012 Triumph Speed Triple R, full arrow low boy exhaust, triumph fly screen...super clean bike!!2012 Triumph Speed Triple RUltimate PerformanceOne of the most iconic bikes in Triumph s range, the Speed Triple is the bike on which Hinckley Triumph s foundations have been built, and has sold over 70,000 units since its launch in 1994. But this year will herald the arrival of the Speed Triple R, the ultimate performance roadster. This new model is dripping with beautiful engineering and is lavished with the most desirable components from the biggest names in the motorcycle industry. The Speed Triple R delivers the most intense and engaging ride of any Triumph roadster to date, delivering true racetrack performance to satisfy the needs of even the most discerning motorcyclist. To fully understand the incredible performance of this machine, we break down the facts and figures that help take agility, control, precision, response and good looks to another level on the sportiest Speed Triple yet.FeaturesSuspensionThe hlins suspension has been developed specifically for the Speed Triple R with both hlins and Triumph development riders involved in extensive evaluation tests of the units on the bike. The NIX30 forks, which separate the compression and rebound damping between the legs, have specific internals to suit the Triumph, as does the TTX36 shock.Breaks and TyresThe Speed Triple uses uprated versions of Brembo s monobloc four-piston radial caliper. With 5% more stopping power than the Brembo units on the stock Speed Triple, the R s calipers feature a tough anodised finish. ABS will feature as an optional extra. Pirelli Super Corsa SP tyres also provide added grip ideal for both road and track.WheelsThe lightweight wheels are developed specifically for the Speed Triple R. Created from an 18.9kg solid lump of aluminium alloy, the rear wheel is forged by German company Otto Fuchs and finally machined by PVM into a 3.82kg wheel, with the front wheels also forged in the same way. Weighing 1kg less than the stock wheel, such a reduction is achieved by the forged wheel s greater strength, meaning the rim can be reduced in thickness from 4mm to just 2.5mm. With the front 0.7kg and rear 1kg lighter than stock, tests have shown the wheels inertia are reduced by 16% and 25% respectively due to the reduction in unsprung mass.Final DetailsOf course, every Triumph R model comes with some added touches for that extra touch of quality. Paint options are classy metallic Phantom Black or Crystal White and subtle details include black anodised taper handlebars, plus the signature red sub-frame which all make the Speed Triple R stand out distinctively. Price William The Duke Of Ducs And Other Motorcycles

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, visited Britain’s largest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live, at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham. The visit saw the Duke astride numerous motorcycle models including UK icons Norton and Triumph as well as a Ducati 1199 Superleggera (one of the few men able to afford the $70,000 rarity). During his visit Prince William enjoyed a display of off-road riding – one of nine opportunities for visitors to ride at Motorcycle Live, eight of which are inside the halls of the NEC. He also met Dean Linehan, exhibitions director of MCI Exhibitions, the company that organizes the annual motorcycle exhibition.

Tue, 23 Dec 2008

In a recent Motorcycle.com Review, Tor Sagen took to Circuito de Cartagena [map] race-track on the 2009 Triumph Daytona 675. Photog’s Jason Critchell and Paul Barshon caught the action as Tor rocketed the machine around 3.506 km (2.179* Miles) of track. Luckily for us, some awesome shots were caught in the process.

Watch: 2011 Speed Triple Dyno run

Tue, 05 Apr 2011

With the full factory fitted arrow system and map fitted it was time to give the Speed a run on a Dyno to see where the power is at. Over two runs the best results were as follows; Power at the crank : 130bhp & 75 ft.lbs torque Power at the gearbox : 124bhp & 72 ft.lbs torque Power at the wheel : 119bhp & 69 ft.lbs torque The bike has covered 4200 miles and is due its first proper service at 6000 so you would expect to see a reduction in power. Triumph claim on a brand new bike the Speed Triple at best puts out 135bhp and 82 ft.lbs torque at the crank with the cans fitted, effectively mine has lost 5bhp and 7ft.lbs of torque.
