Suzuki Other description

I've put over $2000 in parts and labor cost to restore this bike in great shape. It's a great deal for the daily commuter or the long ride (I've done up to 400 miles in a day without saddle soreness). There are even those who haul a trailer behind this size/model while riding two up. Routine 40~44 mpg, have gotten over 50mpg when keeping constant speed on long runs while maintaining 65. Even though this is classed as a scooter (due to low mounted engine) it IS known by those who have them as a “super scooter” or affectionately referred to as a “burger king” - I have seen it top over 100mph. I also find that even though you have the feel of sitting higher than on a cruiser style motorcycle, which gives you better view, I am able to corner this bike at higher speeds than my Honda Shadow – I account for this because the engine sits so low and this low weight drastically improves handling. This bike is GREAT FUN to ride and is very hard to beat as either a daily commuter or for a long-haul.

R&G announce cheaper engine case cover kits

Tue, 06 Sep 2011

R&G Racing has reacted to the rising cost of official motorcycle parts from manufacturers by creating money saving packages on its Engine Case Covers. As a reaction to the parts price rise, the crash protection leader has created a kit package on its Engine Case Covers (ECC) – offering an overall saving of more than 10% when compared to buying the items individually. The ECCs are designed to protect the engine cases and the inner workings of the motor in the event of a drop by acting as a sturdy ‘second skin’.By simply bolting over the original items, fitting the durable Engine Case Covers doesn’t require draining any engine fluids or replacing gaskets. Extensively developed in the ACU R&G Racing Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy, as well as being tested and approved by the California Superbike School in the UK and USA, the covers can allow a bike to be ridden after a crash or prevent terminal engine damage from oil leaks or casing punctures.Protection benefits aside, financial savings for riders are evident by looking at official parts prices; to replace only the clutch cover on a Suzuki GSX-R1000K7 would cost £206 including a new gasket, but all three R&G Engine Case Covers for this bike cost only £143.

Are Motorcycles Safer With Antilock Brakes?

Tue, 30 Dec 2008

A new report says riders with ABS-equipped bikes can dramatically reduce the chance of a fatal accident. The study compared fatality rates among riders on bikes that have antilock brakes, and it found that death rates were 38% lower on motorcycles equipped with the optional ABS systems compared to non-ABS bikes. In 2005-2006, the fatal crashes per 10,000 registered motorcycles without antilock brakes was 6.6.
