This is a very nicely done custom built Maico 490. It is a 1979 MC frame coupled with a 1982 Maico 490 motor. I have listed some of the work and parts that went into this build below (I’m sure I missed some stuff but you get the idea). It was ridden a few times then pretty much became a garage queen. This bike gets allot of attention. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I would be happy to answer them.

Bike Information:

  • Excell Gold rims Front & Back 
  • Buchanan stainless HD spokes laced to refinished hubs
  • Motor usually starts in 2-5 kicks
  • Rebuilt Bing carb / New rubber air box boot 
  • Brand new chrome kickstarter and new zinc coated parts
  • Custom Maico Only pipe
  • Brand new oval aluminum silencer
  • Cylinder fins were professionally machined to look just like the factory race bikes of that era
  • Custom billet aluminum mag cover & Case saver
  • 1981 swingarm (slightly longer than the 79)
  • 1981 forks, professionally shortened/rebuilt by a Maico expert to keep the correct 79 frame geometry
  • Ohlins piggyback shocks rebuilt
  • Maico only Fat pegs/ New springs/New bolts
  • Brand new stainless brake rod with heim joint.
  • Powder coated frame / Gas tank looks very nice / New chrome gas cap / New petcock

 SHIPPING:  costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I dont mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to make shipping arrangements and I want to make this a stress free experience for the buyer. I do have a pretty good list of shippers I would be happy to pass on to you .


PAYMENT: this auction requires a small non-refundable deposit with the balance due within 7 days of the auction ending (unless other arrangements were made between seller and buyer prior to purchasing). I will accept the balance of payment in the following ways-Bank transfer, cash in person, Bank of America cashiers check or USPS money orders.
 
Warranty status: This is a 32 yr old vintage dirtbike so there is no warranty that comes with this bike.
