I've resuscitated a 1979 KZ400-B1 that spent the last 30 years in the original owner's garage. It's in beautiful, original, condition with 2,362 miles and all accessories, including engine guards, backrest & rack, and clear plastic windshield (not shown). Original tool kit, receipts and owners manual included. I installed a new battery, flushed the gearbox, unclogged and cleaned the carbs and replaced the intake hangers, gaskets and O-rings, I had the spokes tightened and wheels trued while replacing the tires. All rubber components are surprisingly pliable. Cleaning this bike up was like going back in time. She runs beautifully, too.
It's missing the air cleaner cap, a metal tray that covers the filter and hold the tool kit. It's P/N 11012-1004. The original owner probably took it off for increased air flow. Small ding in the gas tank. Otherwise, absolutely gorgeous. The bike is ready for sale. I'd like to get it in the hands of someone who has a personal attachment to the KZ family of bikes. His accomplishments include setting the fastest lap for a newcomer at the Isle of Man TT in 2006, a third place at the Macau GP, and multiple top-five finishes in AMA Pro Racing competition. Race veteran Toye will compete in the Open Class Division on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, which will be modified to meet the extreme demands of racing a 12.42-mile course ending at the mountain-top finish.

Mon, 23 Jul 2012Marco Melandri bit a chunk off of Max Biaggi‘s World Superbike championship points lead by taking a pair of wins at Brno. The double was the first in Melandri’s career and the first for BMW. Biaggi, who arrived in the Czech Republic with four wins and nine podium finishes in ten previous races at Brno, was held off the podium this year, shrinking his lead in the championship to 21 points from 48.
