2014 Indian Chief Priced at $18,999, Set for Debut at Sturgis

The storied Indian Motorcycles brand will enter a new era this August at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with the debut of the 2014 Indian Chief. Powered by the  all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, the new Chief will be the first new Indian motorcycle introduced after the company was acquired by Polaris Industries in 2011. To prepare for the launch, Polaris has released a new image and video of the new Chief, and announced it will be available in North American dealerships later this year with prices starting at $18,999.

Indian Motorcycle today released the schedule and additional details of one of the most highly anticipated motorcycling events in decades —the debut of the all-new 2014 Indian Chief.  Two and a half years in the making, the reveal will be a thrilling inauguration to the 73rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.  Today’s news follows the company’s announcement that the 2014 Chief, powered by the new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, will start at $18,999. The Indian Motorcycle Company has registered new motorcycle names

The Guardian and Pursuit names will apparently be the versions based on the new Indian Challenger. Introduced at the end of last year, the Indian Challenger immediately attracted some attention thanks to very interesting "stuffing". It is equipped with a liquid-cooled overhead engine with a displacement of 1769cc PowerPlus - the most powerful V-twin in Indian history, it develops 122 hp at 5500 rpm and 178 Nm at 3800 rpm.
