The first race saw the reigning World Superbike champion fight his way up from 11th place for the win while Race 2 offered a three-way battle between the two Kawasaki riders and Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli. Fifty years later, that legendary run is remembered for inspiring one of the most significant off-road races in the world—the Baja 1000. In celebration, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is hosting a tribute dinner, one-day off road show, and summer-long exhibition called Braving Baja, 1,000 Miles to Glory.

The engine is a single-cylinder with a volume of 149.3 "cubes", developing 14.2 hp at 8500 rpm and 13.8 Nm at 6500 rpm. Suspension is a regular telescopic fork and two Showa rear shocks.
