Ducati Other description

2003 Ducati 749, Ducati 749!The Midsize Superbike Derived directly from the new Ducati 999, the 749 features only the highest quality and performance components. As with the Ducati 748, the Ducati 749 competes head to head against midsize Japanese sports bikes. This is made possible by its use of the new Testastretta engine whose performance has already been proven in the World Superbike Championship. A shorter 58.8 mm stroke lowers the average speed of the piston for higher performance and improved reliability. A larger 90 mm bore also allows more space to install large, high performance valves, meaning decreased wear, vibration and mechanical fatigue. The bottom line: the 749s/749 produces 103 horsepower vs. 97 of its predecessor. The Ducati 749 was developed with the same design philosophy applied to the Ducati 999: namely, a maximum integration of parts and rationalization of all design and production processes. The chassis features a double-sided swingarm, a revolutionary electrical system utilizing advanced CAN line technology, ergonomic features to improve rider-machine symbiosis and an innovative new exhaust system design that elevates performance.
