Buell Lightning description

2000 Buell Lightning. 1 of the best looking, show quality Buell's you will probably ever find. This 2000 X1 lightning is custom from front to rear. The tank cover, fly screen and front fender all have a beautifully laid-out flame paint job, done with House of Kolor paint. Matching painted or powder-coated parts include: the handle bar switch housings, front belt pulley, derby cover, carbon fiber frame covers, swing arm, and a front chin spoiler/air dam. The swing arm has been extended 3 ins to give the bike a very unique look along with adding a performance modification that helps to keep the front end down closer to the ground under heavy acceleration. The tail section that the seat rides on has been lowered and the front part of the seat has been extended back flush with with tank for a preferred non-cramped position. The under part of the tail section has been custom made and polished. There are 2 new Maxxis-supermaxx tires mounted on PM polished wheels. Final drive to the rear tire is via a 139 tooth belt by BDL. There is a hand crafted polished aluminum battery cover. A hand crafted polished aluminum air cleaner with a K&M filter. The brake calipers and master cylinder are chromed and the rotors are polished. The cam cover, rocker boxes, engine stabilizer arms, front brake and clutch levers all chromed. Speedometer housing, tachometer housing, headlamp housing and brackets all chromed. Front and rear foot pegs, shifter and brake pedal all by Crossroads. New battery, voltage regulator, and Sumax spark plug wires. Stainless steel woven clutch and brake cables and fuel lines. To top it off most all allen bolts have chrome Hot Toppers installed. For a little more on the performance side of things a polished Vance & Hines exhaust is mounted to the silver ceramic coated headers and a race ECM module has been installed.

Zero Motorcycles Promotes Askenazi to CTO

Tue, 24 May 2011

Zero Motorcycles has promoted Abe Askenazi to the position of chief technology officer. A former Buell engineer, Askenazi joined Zero Motorcycles in 2010 as vice president of engineering where he played a vital role in developing the company’s 2011 line-up, overhauling over 80% of Zero’s existing electric motorcycle line-up while adding the Zero XU and street legal versions of the Zero X and Zero MX in just 10 months on the job. “Abe’s ability to effectively execute on an aggressive product development plan, select the best new technologies and rally his team is remarkable.

2014 WSBK – Phillip Island Results

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

When he signed with the team, Eugene Laverty said he would give all he possibly could to bring Suzuki back to the top of the podium once again. Well, it sure didn’t take the Northern Irishman long to accomplish that goal, winning the very first race of the 2014 season at Australia’s Phillip Island course. The win was Laverty’s third in a row, including the final two races of the 2013 season when he raced for Aprilia.

Buell Assets Liquidation About to Begin

Mon, 25 Jan 2010

In what is sure to be a painfully long and tortuous process for the former Buell Motorcycle Company (from Eric down to the graveyard shift janitor), the final act of its disassembly will be handled by Grand Rapids, Michigan – based Liquid Asset Partners. In a release from Liquid Assets, the company states the “liquidation sale will start January 28th and run everyday for 30 days until everything is sold. Regardless of cost or loss, millions of dollars worth of equipment and tools will be sold directly on the factory floor.” But don’t think this is just a sell-off of the last few skeletal remains of bikes.
