BMW R-Series description

Bike only has 25,000 some-odd km's on it (about 16,000 miles).
Original paint
on tank, rear seat cowl and front fender.
Original pin-striping
on tank and cowl.

Keihan 35R stainless steel mufflers
Parabellum fairing,
plus Airtech fairing.
plus Givi windshield.
and Round valve covers...YES!

Here's a video of the bike: (all videos shot in April/May, 2016)

Here's how well she starts from cold...largely thanks to the EME electronic ignition:

And another video.
This shows not only how agile the R65's are
(see how it runs circles around the Miata?)
(the R65's had a shorter wheelbase than the other models, contributing to its agility).
The video also shows the cruise control in action
(just out of view, but you can barely see me apply it about 0:55, and then go off cruise at about 1:05):

And a third video of it out on the highway:

Burns no oil. Leaks no oil. Eats up miles on the highway without skipping a beat. See this page for inspections in recent years.

I've added a EuroMotoElectric ignition system. It has an Odyssey Enersys battery, and hi-tech trickle charger. I also added Oxford heated grips. It has an upgraded side-stand.

The carbs were totally disassembled, cleaned and had gaskets renewed a few years ago. New floats, too...that have never seen a drop of ethanol since (ethanol gradually makes the floats sink). The existing pannier racks are for my Givi hard cases, but -- PLEASE NOTE -- I'll be keeping the cases.

Two fairings (Parabellum and Airtech), two windshield heights (for the Parabellum), one windshield (Givi), two seats (stock and Corbin) (I had to jerry-rig the Corbin, since they technically don't make seats for the R65), and two types of handlebars (stock and sport) . I added the Corbin seat, since I liked the red piping and thought it would be really comfy on the highway. But I found out that unless you're a certain height, it's extraordinarily uncomfortable (I'm 5'6"). So I had to chop about 2" off of the front and carve out some of the memory foam under the leather. But it's all buttoned back up now with a rivet gun.

Metzler Lasertech tires with 3/32" (0.1" or 2.4mm) of center tread on front and slightly more than 3/32" of center tread on the back.

Front spline was greased at about 20,000 km's. It also looked fine when I initially opened 'er up (ie, greasy).

The two books are included.
Click here to read the scans I did from the Cycle World book
(actually a compilation of magazine articles) on the original R65 test.

The extra parts (2nd fairing, 2nd seat, 2nd windshield, etc, etc) will travel in a big, plastic tote (36" x 18" x 21" and weighing about 45 pounds) secured with rope. All fragile items will be fully bubble-wrapped.

I've got a lot more detailed photos and info on this page.

Initial deposit will need to be made within 24 hours via paypal for 15% of the final price.

I found some boiler-plate legalese somewhere else on this site. Please have a read-through before bidding. Thanks.

The description of this motorcycle is written to the best of my knowledge. However, I am by no means an expert on vintage motorcycles. Please don’t hesitate to ask for more photos and, if possible, come and look in person before the auction ends. ALL SALES ARE FINAL! If you have any questions, please contact me before the auction ends. This motorcycle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed, written or implied. Please remember that your bid constitutes a legally binding contract to purchase this item. If you require an inspection, have it done prior to bidding. I strongly encourage all bidders to inspect the motorcycle personally or enlist the services of a professional inspector prior to placing a bid. If there are any questions regarding the above terms, please e-mail prior to bidding.

I don't have any recommendations on shipping companies, but I will endeavor to get a short video and/or some photos of the bike on the truck/van/trailer, etc, prior to transport, just in case something goes wrong, and you're left holding the bag.

2014 BMW F800GS Adventure Announced

Thu, 02 May 2013

BMW has announced a new Adventure version of the F800GS, providing a more off-road-oriented version of the middleweight dual-sport. BMW has offered an Adventure version of the R1200GS for a while now but this is the first time BMW has done the same for one of its smaller GS models. Like the base F800GS, the Adventure version is powered by a liquid-cooled 798cc four-valve parallel-twin engine.
