Contact Chris at 312-878-8711, chris@motoworkschicago.com, or through ebay for any questions.

We have a lot of time, effort and money into listing this motorcycle on ebay.  Please be respectful of that and be certain that you intend to follow through with the sale.  Your bid is a contract to buy.

We have the listing set up to accept bids only from US and Canadian bidders in an effort to prevent scammers from ruining the auction.  If you are a legitimate bidder outside of the US or Canada and you have a way to have the bike picked up at our location without it being crated, please e-mail Chris at chris@motoworkschicago.com.  Provide him with your ebay ID and confirm that you can arrange international shipping and have the bike picked up uncrated at our location in Chicago, and he will gladly add you to the list that allows you to bid.

This is a gorgeous (truly nearly perfect) example of the almighty R1200GS.  It has been impeccably maintained from new by one owner. It has just over 24,000 miles and it just had its 24,000 mile scheduled maintenance, at which time it got new tires installed. It is set up with ABS brakes, heated grips, BMW expandable hard saddlebags and top case, an R1200GS Adventure seat, factory Garmin GPS, engine protection bars, and enormous PIAA lights.  It runs and rides absolutely perfectly with enough snap to make the front wheel come off the ground without trying too hard. This beast eats twisties for breakfast, dirt trails for lunch, and gobbles up as much interstate as you can throw at it for dinner to get you home in time for dessert! The R1200GS is the ultimate adventure touring machine. It has just been checked over and has a clean bill of health.

There are 74 pictures below detailing the condition of the bike.  Please look at all of them carefully and ask any questions you have before bidding.  You can call Chris at 312-878-8711, e-mail him at chris@motoworkschicago.com, or contact us through ebay.

The bike is located at Motoworks in the city of Chicago.  If you are local and would like to see it in person, please call 312-878-8711 to set up an appointment.

Shipping a motorcycle can be expensive, so be sure to look into it before bidding. The zip code is 60608 to help in figuring shipping.  Our recommendation for a great shipper is Danny at D&K Services.  He can be reached at 973-534-7823.

Winning bidder picks up in Chicago or arranges for/pays for all shipping/crating. We can deliver within 100 miles of Chicago for a fee. $500 deposit via PayPal due within 24 hours of auction close. Remainder via one of the standard payment methods within seven days. No PayPal for remainder unless you contact us first. The bike is to be picked up within three weeks of auction close. $25 per week storage fee after that.  We are a dealer, so we must charge sales tax and process the title and plate if you are an Illinois buyer.  If you are a buyer from one of the states that reciprocates with Illinois on sales tax, we must collect sales tax based on the vehicle rate for your state.  As a dealer, we also have a $110 documentation fee, $161 title/registration fee for Illinois buyers, and $10 ride-away permit fee for out-of-state buyers.

Tested: Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact

Mon, 15 Mar 2010

With its clever Interact technology Metzeler has created a tyre that has a varying carcass construction to alter how the rubber performs. Without going too deeply the M5 consists of five bands of belting that vary in stiffness. At the outer edges of the tyre the carcass is quite flexible, allowing the rubber to move around and generate more heat and therefore grip, while nearer the tyre’s centre the carcass is stiffer, reducing the rubber’s movement and decreasing its wear.

WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).
