Honda CL description

This is the CL450 you've been looking for!

Selling a 1969 Honda CL450 K1 from my collection of old Hondas.  It comes complete with the one year only reflector on the front fender!

This bike is in great condition for a nearly 50 year old bike.  It runs, rides, and stops great.  It has new tires (Dunlop Gold Seal K70) with less than 300 miles on them.

The motor was rebuilt by me 2 years ago.  This was not my first CL/CB450 motor rebuild.  I have done 8-10 in my life.  I have only ridden it about 150 miles a year since the rebuild.  I only ride it to motorcycle shows and get-togethers.

The motor was treated to new rings and gaskets all around.  And the valves were lapped and adjusted.  It didn't need anything else.  It does not leak nor does it smoke.

The seat is original and the top is soft and pliable with no rips or tears.

The tank is straight and has great original paint.  It does have a few small scratches and nicks but given it's age, it looks great. One of the badges is original and one is a reproduction. There is no rust or varnish in the tank.

The side covers have original paint and decals too.  They also have some nicks and pitting.

The chrome is in great shape but does have some very minor pitting.  The worst areas are the signals and the fork bolts.  WIth a little polishing it would look fantastic!

The exhaust is solid and in great shape!  There are some nicks and marks on the head pipes and some discoloration in a couple areas as you can see in the pictures.  The heat shields are as good as I've ever seen.

The only negatives on the bike are the front blinkers seemed to have stopped working.  Could be a loose wire... not sure.  The speedo cable broke on me this summer while riding and I have not replaced it.  I have put on less than 50 miles since it broke.  At forks are missing the fork boots.  I did powder coat the exposed springs when I replaced the fork seals last summer.  I think it looks sharp this way.  All of the cables are original.  I lubricated them all and they all work fine (except the speedo).

The carbs are clean and the tank and carburetors have been drained for winter storage.  It comes with a tool kit and a clean MN title in my name.

This is not the first bike I have sold on eBay.  Check my feedback... the few bikes I have sold my collection have pleased their new owners.  This would make a great addition to any collection, or you could take it to the next level of restoration.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.  Although I will happily work with the shipper of your choice.  I have had luck with the vendors on www.uship.com.  I have never had to pay over $500 for a bike to be shipped and most times it is around $350.

Please email if you have any questions.

Happy bidding!

2014 Honda CB1100 Announced

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

The Honda CB1100 has only been available here in North America for a year, but for 2014, the retro-styled standard is already getting an update. That’s because the CB1100 has been around for a bit longer overseas, and for nearly everywhere but here, it’s ripe for a modest refresh. For 2014, Honda is replacing the previous version’s five-speed transmission with a six-speed gearbox.

American Honda Extends Partnership With GEICO Honda

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

From a Honda press release: American Honda Motor Corp., Inc. announced today that it has renewed its contract with GEICO Honda for an additional three years, ensuring that the Factory Connection-run program will continue running Honda’s factory-supported 250 team through the 2017 season. Honda’s long professional relationship with Factory Connection owners Mike Grondahl, Jeff Majkrzak and Rick Zielfelder started in 1995, when the company began providing the factory team with suspension-related technical support.

Used: MOTOTENT by Lone Rider

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Since wild camping in the UK is generally regarded as trespassing, I opted for a crowded campsite in the heart of Sussex, open fires allowed, to see if the MOTOTENT is worth the £399 price tag. On the face of it the MOTOTENT is essentially a two man dome tent with a porch, Well I can pick up one of those up from Argos for £100 or less. Also I was struggling to understand why you would buy a tent that you can sleep in and store your bike in overnight, certainly in the UK most places you are likely to stay are fairly secure campsites.
