The YZF-R6 was introduced in 1998 as the super sport version of _'s YZF-R1 super bike, and as a companion to the more street-oriented YZF600R sport bike which continued to be sold alongside the R6. The motorcycle featured _'s completely new engine design capable of producing over 108 horsepower (81 kW) while stationary. The R6 was the world_'s 1st 600cc production four-stroke motorcycle producing over 100 horsepower (75 kW) in stock form._2_ The YZF-R6 has been revised several times since its introduction. Starting with the 2003 model, the R6 became fuel-injected. The 2006 model year was a significant upgrade with a new engine management system featuring the YCC-T fly-by-wire throttle and a multi-plate slipper clutch. Wed, 07 Dec 2011If you live in the southern California area and are attending the Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend, Dec. 9-11, do everything you can to make it Friday before 5:30 as three of Yamaha’s best and brightest stars will be on hand to meet and greet fans, as well as pose for pictures. Yamaha MotoGP rider and former Yamaha World Superbike Champion Ben Spies, Monster Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP rider and former Yamaha World Supersport Champion Cal Crutchlow, and Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider and two-time defending AMA Pro Racing American SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes will all be signing autographs and greeting fans at the Yamaha display.
