Yamaha YZF-R description

This bike has been rebuilt from the ground up at 17800 miles and then had the last 1000 miles broke in. New crank shaft, journal bearings, rod bearings, clutch, starter, timing chain, and guides. The heads have been cleaned and inspected. New aftermarket shorty levers for comfort. Has vortex pegs for added comfort and grip for your feet. Low mileage on chain, spark plugs, and brakes. This bike won’t need anything done to it for another 3000 miles except the oil  changed. Minor scrap on the rear left fairing. It runs like a dream and is fast as hell. I'm only selling it because of an injury that makes it no longer safe for me to ride. Please have insurance if you want to test ride before purchase. Otherwise I can ride it in front of you for a small distance to show you how it sounds, shifts, and runs. Asking $8000 obo. Text 858-722-2154 for any questions. Text 858-722-2154 for any questions.

The short but sweet life of the Yamaha R7

Tue, 17 Jan 2012

I was reunited with an old friend recently, my 1999 Virgin Yamaha R7 Superbike. By the end of 1998 I had won three straight BSB titles with the Yamaha YZF750, when main sponsor Cadbury’s pulled out leaving zero funds for a title defence. Wanting desperately to ride the new R7 and thinking a replacement backer would instantly get on board I turned down quite a few offers including a juicy contract from Crescent Suzuki (Paul Denning always enjoys reminding me).

Simon and Leo

Thu, 11 Aug 2011

If you are a track day regular this year, you may well have bumped into former racer and friendly Kiwi, Simon Crafar. I first met him in Malaysia in 1990 when he was riding for a Yamaha dealer team, sweating his way round circuits like Shah Alam and Johor Bahru but with a long term plan to make it onto the World scene. And he didn’t take long as after riding for Honda in the UK in 1992 he moved to WSB in 1994 and enjoyed success with both the Honda and Kawasaki factory teams.
