Yamaha XS tech info
Yamaha XS description
Selling my 1979 Yamaha xs1100. Bike is in overall very good condition. Note, I have all lights and fenders, mirrors and will be included in auction. Last picture shows bike prior to build/ customize. Have windshield but has a crack, is included. Has new battery, carbs have been gone through and starts immediately, runs great on all 4 cylinders. Shifts through all gears, clutch holds and releases as designed, and both brake master cylinders hold pressure and stop wheels. Rear tire is bald, and needs replacement, front tire is good. Intermittently tachometer does not work, is inaccurate, seems like a poor connection issue. Missing right fuse box cover. Bike has ZERO back fees, and I have a clean California title in hand. Pleas email me any questions, VERY LOW RESERVE, great value for a first bike, and nothing has been cut or chopped so great base to start if you want to customize to your style. Carbs meter fuel, but could use a correct tuning, synchronization by a professional. Any interested buyer of course can come look at and see run prior to bidding, no problem. Buyer responsible for transport. Thanks, and any question feel free and ask! |

An Island tour with a legend
Fri, 17 Sep 2010What you are watching is a highlight of Mike Hailwood's segment from the racing documentary Take it to the Limit - A Motorcycle Odyssey. The Yamaha - built by the extraordinary Kel Carruthers - that Hailwood is riding in the clip featured a unique frame with the camera housed within. The voice-over recording provided by Hailwood was done by taping a small mic to the bottom of his lip so he could dictate his guide to the 37.73 mile route.
