There is no question that the BSB paddock has been split over the radical new points scoring system introduced for 2010. That said, no one can argue that the formula hasn't worked as we are in for the most exciting season end at the Oulton Park triple header on the 9th/10th of October. There may only be six riders in the final shoot out but there are at least another six that can win races, ultimately spoiling the party for the championship hopefuls.

Authorities in British Columbia, Canada, have impounded a 2006 Yamaha R1 believed to have starred in a YouTube video reaching speeds of 299 kph (185 mph) on a freeway. The onboard video, embedded after the jump, captures the Yamaha weaving through traffic, and often lane-splitting between other vehicles, covering a 4.67 mile stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway in about a minute and 56 seconds. That translates to an average speed of 144.6 mph.

When Yamaha announced its new R1 literbike last fall, company reps told us about the tractability assets of its new, MotoGP-derived crossplane crankshaft for the four-cylinder engine. Itís unique in that cylinders fire 90-degrees apart, allegedly enabling better grip during acceleration. A byproduct of this design is an exhaust note that is distinctive in this world of cookie-cutter designs.
