Yamaha Raider description

2009 Yamaha Raider S, Candy Red w/Flames 8,250 Miles One Owner Great Condition The 2009 Yamaha Raider S not only looks good...it offers an incredible riding experience too. 2009 Yamaha Raider S (XV1900S) Features: Engine: High-performance, 1854cc (113 cubic inch) air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 4 valves per cylinder, 48, V-twin power plant produces massive torque and class leading acceleration from very low rpms. Maximum torque occurs at 2,500 rpm while maximum power occurs at 4,500 rpm, providing exciting acceleration with great pulse / torque feel. Traditional pushrod valve actuation keeps engine height down for a lower center of gravity and ensures more uniform heat dissipation due to absence of a cam chain case. A lower center of gravity helps to insure light, easy handling. Carburetion Twin-Bore electronic fuel injection throttle position sensor The Raider S achieves fuel economy is great. I average around 42 mpg with a fuel tank that holds 4.2 gallons of gas. Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for both strong low rpm acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. 5th gear is an overdrive gear for reduced engine rpms at highway speeds for maximum riding comfort. Low maintenance, clean, quiet belt drive eliminates messy chain splatter while maximizing power output. History has proven that belt drive systems are ultra reliable and rarely need alignment or tensioning. The belt is embedded with carbon fiber for incredible strength. Filling a void with an RD350LC

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Last winter I managed to fill a void in my life when I stumbled on a very reasonably priced Yamaha RD350LC.  It was a tad scruffy, had the wrong exhausts but most importantly it was blue and white with all numbers matching.  I had the usual euphoria when the deal was done but I underestimated how much pleasure this particular purchase would continue to deliver another eight months down the line. The difference with this old bike is, instead of just taking it for the occasional ride I was talked into doing a full nut and bolt restoration.  Having never taking a bike apart completely before, initially it was quite daunting but I soon found the RD is easy to work on so it turned into a truly satisfying experience.  I’ve had some help from LC enthusiasts with the rebuild, however, the stripping, sourcing and organising was a total labour of love.  And call me sad but it has made me bond with this bike like no other which only adds to the feel good factor.  The bike cost £1800 and I’ve spent around £1000 but I reckon my mint Elsie is now worth a fair bit more.   I fancy rejuvenating a Fizzy  next time but there’s lots of other cheap 70’s and 80’s winter projects  out there so why not have a go yourself?
