AMA Supercross: 2012 San Diego Results

Ryan Villopoto captured his second straight victory, winning the San Diego round of the 2012 AMA Supercross championship. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider now has three wins on the season, two more than anyone else, but his hold on the championship points lead has only increased to six points. Villopoto took the lead on the second lap of the main event after overtaking Brett Metcalfe of Yoshimura Suzuki who took the holeshot, with Villopoto‘s teammate Jake Weimer also in the lead group.

Kevin Schwantz Visits Suzuki Headquarters Ahead of Suzuka 8-Hours

Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz recently visited Japan to take part in the official test for the 2014 Coca-Cola Zero Suzuka 8-Hours. Schwantz, who last year finished third at Suzuka riding for Team Kagayama, is part of the Yoshimura Suzuki Shell Advance Legend Racing Team and will ride alongside his 1986 Suzuka 8-Hour partner Satoshi Tsujimoto and Suzuki Moto GP test rider Nobuatsu Aoki. 2012 Suzuki Boulevard C50T Classic Announced

During Suzuki’s annual dealer meeting the company reported that cruiser sales at large are down 6.2% YTD. However, Suzuki says its cruiser sales are up 12.5%, and in an effort to keep riding this wave that’s handily outpacing the rest of the cruiser market, the company announced the addition of the Boulevard C50T Classic. While the Classic is a carbon copy of the C50T, it does away with the C50T’s standard windshield, passenger backrest and saddlebags.
