Moto Guzzi CA description
The Ambassador built specifically for the US market in 1969-1970, with the
brake pedal on the right-hand side and larger capacity 757cc engine. With 9:1
compression ratio, the Ambassador was rated at 55hp SAE and reached 185km/h in
testing. The Ambassador was a big success for Moto Guzzi and ten were supplied
to the LAPD for testing in March 1969, with a further 85 eventually ordered and
other police forces across the country followed suit. Film buffs may recall
Sean Connery as James Bond riding one in “Diamonds are Forever”. For 1970 minor
changes were made to the specification, with a new instrument layout consisting
of both a speedometer and tachometer, and production continued to rise. This is a 3 owner bike, Original owner LAPD it was used as a Parade bike with all options ordered. The second owner in Fl. did a complete mechanical rebuild on the engine a aircraft mechanic. I purchased the bike in 2002 and have since had a cosmetic restoration done on it and only has about 1000 miles since the rebuild. My collection of bikes and cars have increased to the point where some must find a new home. This is all the bike needs is a new home. The bike had a burgundy color changed to black. |
