The 1078 cc unit is combined with an Electronic Engine Control Unit which has been programmed with a mapping and offers 8 levels of traction control that can be selected by the rider. To offer a proper grip regardless of the road conditions, the Brutale R 1090 is equipped with front 120/70 - ZR 17 and rear 190/55 - ZR 17 tires. We had expected the Rivale 800 to be our next MV Agusta appointment, but instead they pushed forward the F3 800′s launch at Misano. After having tested the Brutale 800, this was a mouth-watering prospect. The three-cylinder MV Agusta range now consists of four models (F3 and Brutale in 675cc and 800cc) plus the upcoming 800cc Rivale, helping the Schiranna factory offer its most extensive lineup ever.

ANOTHER CRACKING BIT of vintage racing footage, this time featuring multiple motorcycle world champion Phil Read on the awesome-sounding MV Agusta 500-4.The footage is from the 1974 movie 'The Iron Horse' made by Frenchman Pierre-William Glenn.Read’s 1974 500cc World Championship victory was the last year a four-stroke won the world title before the advent of the MotoGP class in 2002. Giacomo Agostini won the crown from Yamaha in 1975, followed by Suzuki-mounted Barry Sheene in '76 and '77. The footage is bloody good, considering the camera technology of the day.

MV Agusta is developing a new model to be revealed at the 2012 EICMA show in November. While it isn’t that surprising an Italian manufacturer will have something to show off in Milan, the big news is the new model will not be a sportbike or a naked but a new motorcycle segment for MV Agusta. Rumors of a new MV Agusta have been circulating for a while, gathering momentum when the company recently trademarked the name “Rivale”.
