The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick. Recall for 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
Mon, 25 Jul 2011A recall has been issued on the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R due to a problem with the wiring harness. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a portion of the wiring harness on some 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R models may get pinched between the subframe and the rear fender, or between the subframe and the bolt holding the seat cover. This may result in damage to the harness and wiring, potentially resulting in a short in the electrical system, which could cause the engine to suddenly stop.

The 45 year-old father of five and grandfather of three (no, those aren’t typos) won the first three races of the season during the series opener in Christchurch, placing him firmly at the top of the points standings heading into round two at Levels Raceway, near Timaru. The championship favorite certainly got the wake-up call as Taupo’s Suzuki rider Scott Moir raced to a convincing win in Saturday’s Superbike race, while Charlett was forced to settle for fourth place.
