Original Owner, All Original 1981 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD, with 6631 ORIGINAL MILES. The Bike starts and runs very well. It was in storage unused for over 10 years until I took it out this spring, and began to clean it up and restore it. The tank has been cleaned and lined, the fuel lines have been cleaned and purged, new plugs were installed, oil changed, and a new battery was installed. The bike starts right up, and runs well. If I had the time, I would repaint the tank, and put a new master cylinder on the bike, and it would be good for any trip, and many years to come. This bike is a classic, and is one of the original 4 stroke, (4 cylinder), bikes to be introduced into the mid sized, production market, and was ahead of it's time when introduced. It's still very much a classic, and looks it. The seat is in great condition, with no tears, or issues. I've included a close up of the tank that shows the rust coming through the paint, which is why I would suggest repainting the tank. Again, the interior of the tank was lined a few months ago to ensure the integrity of the tank and fuel lines. The Engine # is KZ550AE019571. Displacement is 553cc. 53HP at 8500 rpm. Recall for 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
Mon, 25 Jul 2011A recall has been issued on the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R due to a problem with the wiring harness. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a portion of the wiring harness on some 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R models may get pinched between the subframe and the rear fender, or between the subframe and the bolt holding the seat cover. This may result in damage to the harness and wiring, potentially resulting in a short in the electrical system, which could cause the engine to suddenly stop.
