US Motorcycle Thefts Down 6% in 2011

Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.

Enduro Legend Juha Salminen Announces Retirement

Finnish racer Juha Salminen announced his retirement from racing at the end of the 2013 World Enduro Championship, capping off a career that included 13 world championships and a record 96 World Enduro Championship wins. KTM Announces AMA Superbike Team – Will Compete Full 2012 Season

KTM announced it will compete in its first full AMA Superbike season, with Chris Fillmore riding the KTM 1190 RC8 R Race Spec. The Austrian manufacturer made its AMA Superbike debut last year, entering two events, with Fillmore riding the RC8 R for the KTM/HMC team. KTM‘s presence in 2012 was initially in doubt, but the team confirmed it is returning to compete the full season with Fillmore and the HMC team.
