Indian Dirt Bike description

Vintage 1976 Indian MT-175 motocross bike

Recently restored original Indian dirt bike in top condition. Bike has been extremely well maintained with low miles, though there is no odometer. It is a super rarity in any condition since only about 100 moto-crossers seem to have made in the 175cc class in 1976, the last year of production by Indian.

This comes with a Minarelli motor with Mikuni carburettor, as these were both stock at the time. The carburettor was completely overhauled in autumn 2015 and the air filter replaced. The bike has always been stored in a heated garage and ridden sparingly over the years, just enough to keep it fresh. Almost all parts are stock. Everything runs fine – motor, front forks and rear shocks, clutch, gearbox, etc. The bike starts up right away when cold and after a couple minutes of warming up is ready to scream in a way the Indian 100cc and 125 cc models simply cannot manage. It is an absolute blast to ride and I can attest that it turns heads anywhere and everywhere it is seen.

The bike is a living, breathing antique, lovingly tended to, that is just raring to go with someone who really cares. Would be a great addition to AHRMA events! Do not miss this one chance to own a true collector’s item.

Please note the following: (1) The bike has no odometer so the mileage listed is an educated guess based on bike’s minimal wear and tear; (2) As is usual with vintage dirt bike sales, there is no title; (3) There is no warranty; (4) It is sold as is, with no refunds possible; (5) Serious inquiries only, please.

Hornaday’s top-of-the-line black & burgundy Vintage was built to his specifications and features optional painted rims, black leather saddlebags and seat with fringed leather. Hornaday mentioned that one of his favorite photos is of his father, a racing legend himself, seated on an Indian Chief, just before he sold it to go into the Army.

Polaris Reports Q1 2013 Results

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Polaris Industries reported a 26% increase in net income over the first quarter of 2013, but a 2.9% decline in on-road vehicle sales (comprised almost entirely of Victory and Indian Motorcycles). The company’s first quarter filings report a net income of $75.5 million, up from the $60.1 million reported over the same period in 2012. Much of the increase can be attributed to a 217% increase in net sales from its snowmobile division, spurred in large part by increase in snowfall across many regions of North America.
