For your consideration... Beautiful freshly restored Ruby Red 1971 Honda SL70. Very nice example collector quality restoration of one of Hondas most popular models ever ! Appreciating always and in the most desirable shiny Ruby Red color... These hard to find SL's are in demand and would certainly thrill many young and old finding this under their tree on Christmas morning ! Professionally refinished tank, fenders, headlight and side covers with repro embossed tank badges and graphics. Done to a very respectable level... Too many new or restored parts and pieces to list with correctness and originality implemented in this restoration. Pricey stuff includes new cylinder, piston, rings, gaskets, correct trials pattern tires & tubes, seat cover and carburetor. Original handlebars, levers, perches, rims & spokes, forks, hardware and exhaust have all been attended to and present well but do show wear or light corrosion constitent with age. Similar SL350 taillight bracket replaces impossible to find original unit. Used optional speedometer has been added with incorrect mileage. Restorations ultimately have compromises on availability of parts, finishes and budgets. As always one could continue to improve and or opinions on such vary. Positive comments and inquiries from serious buyers are welcome... Negative or tire kickers need not bother please. The detailed rebuilt engine is original to the bike. Everything labor intensively inspected and expertly assembled...Starts, stops and runs as new with test miles since completion and guaranteed fun factor ! Nicely restored this SL70 is turn key and ready to enjoy ! Sportbike VS Rat Bike Drag Race – Video

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

In a revision of the classic hustle of tempting someone with something shiny and new with the easy mark of something old and dumpy, this CBR1000 rider lines up against a 70 hp Harley rat bike in a back alley drag race. What makes this video so compelling is the Honda rider’s unfailing belief in the superiority of his higher-powered, more performance-oriented motorcycle. He lines up against the Harley rider not once, not twice, but three times – only to get his ass handed to him each time.

Schwantz and Mackenzie on the Nurburgring box

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

A 500GP bike never fails to stop me in my tracks and that’s exactly what happened when I spotted this Schwantz example from the early nineties, proudly displayed on the Arai stand at the recent Motorcyclelive show.  On loan from Crescent Suzuki and accompanied by a rostrum publicity shot from the 1990 German GP at the Nurburgring, I felt the urge to write a few words on that special weekend. I started the year running my own 250 GP team with fairly standard TZ Yamahas but was drafted in as Kevin Schwantz’s team mate after Kevin Magee suffered a serious head injury at the second Grand Prix in Laguna Seca.  With no testing and some major Spanish food poisoning I finished 8th at the next round in Jerez then followed that up with a 5th place in Misano. Next up was the Nurburgring and after qualifying on the second row of the grid, my crew chief Geoff Crust informed me he had a premonition of a race day rostrum finish. He also told me I better make it come true as he was already looking forward to a few post race celebratory refreshments. While I hoped Crusty was the new mystic meg, the truth was I would have been more than happy to buy the beers if I made it to the flag inside the top five. I had an outside chance of catching one major scalp as Wayne Rainey was riding with a nasty hand injury but I suspected adrenalin would see him through the day. I also followed Mick Doohan a fair bit in practice but he was beginning to find his feet on the Rothmans Honda so was going to be another problem.  When the lights went out Schwantz and Rainey went straight to the front I while I hung in behind Doohan and Pier Francesco Chilli, and then it happened. Coming out of the bottom right hand hairpin, Doohan and Chilli simultaneously high sided in one of the most spectacular crashes of the season. I never liked seeing any fellow riders crash but I made the most of this early race gift and rode my 160bhp/115kg RGV hard to the flag, claiming my first podium of the season.  We partied hard (win or lose we always did) that night and I went on to have my best ever season finishing fourth overall in the championship. After the last round in Australia, I finished second to Kevin at Sugo in Japan then won in Malaysia at another international race that KS didn’t attend. I also tested at Eastern Creek for the following season but then was flicked from the team for reasons that still remain a mystery. Isle of Man TT 2014: Sure Sidecar TT 2 Results

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

Dave Molyneux won his 17th career TT as he and passenger Patrick Farrance took the second Sidecar race of the 2014 Isle of Man TT. Molyneux is the career leader in Sidecar TT wins and third overall in total Isle of Man TT victories behind Joey Dunlop and John McGuinness. Molyneux and Farrance won the race by a good 44-second margin but they benefited greatly from a mechanical problem plaguing early race leaders John Holden and Andrew Winkle.
