Fri, 18 Nov 2011Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions on cornering braking and even what a riders goal should be. Mon, 14 Oct 2013Honda Project Leader Shunji Yokokawa's first Honda bike was a CB900, which he got when he was a teenager after seeing Freddie Spencer wheeling his way down the Laguna's Corkscrew.Yokokawa has been in the States himself recently, having travelled to the Bonneville Salt Flats to break a world land speed record for a stock 600cc motorcycle.According to the Southern California Timing Association website (you'd have thought the video might have mentioned something about the record?), Shunji was successful in his attempt during August's 'Speed Week', setting an official speed of 170.828mph onboard a CBR600RR.

Honda Design 1957-1984 does exactly what it says on the tin and allows us an insight to the work behind many of our favourite motorcycles. Sketches, pre-production drawings and plenty of retro pictures of a golden era.
