Honda Magna description

Up for sale is a beautiful and lovingly maintained Honda V65 Magna.

V65 Magnas are the best and most practical of all the classic mid 80's muscle cruisers.  Owning one of these is like owning a 1970 MOPAR hemi muscle car.
This bike will leave any Harley in the dust and will catch many more admiring looks at cruise night then a cookie cutter v-twin cruiser
Comfort, touring practicality, ease of maintenance, reliability, good looks, blinding speed, economy, uniqueness, what more could you want in a bike, this V65 Magna has it all.

This bike has been garaged for almost all of its life.  Last summer it had to sit out in the sun while we remodeled our house.  Some of the bolts and fasteners oxidized at that time and it about killed me to see this.

Many desirable options have been added and many parts have been replaced recently.  I added a KG sliding backrest and luggage rack, engine case guards, highway pegs, Large foam grips, throttle lock cruise, 12 volt accessory/battery tender outlet, chrome engine side covers, chrome air-box covers,  Vetter bullet fairing, F.O.I.L. anti theft system, fork brace support.

These things have been replaced in the last ten years:  fuel hoses, frame port covers, all foot peg supports and rubber tread rests, turn signals and stalks ,NOS seat, K&N air filter, mufflers, tires have 4000 miles on them, rear shocks, most electrical switches and relays, fork seals,( right is leaking again due to a nick in the right  fork slider.  I am including a replacement fork.), instrument dash cover, thermostat, fuel pump, oil sending unit, mirrors, hand levers, front and rear wheels, horns, fuse box cover, handlebar,  regulator/rectifier and wiring, battery hold down bracket, battery (new gel type), center stand, rubber grommets for side covers.  I just can't imagine what mechanicals you will need to fix, replace or deal with in the foreseeable future other than the fork seal leak.

This is really the CLEANEST and most nearly perfect V65 Magna you will see on EBAY.  Please look at all of the pictures I have included and see for yourself.

Here are cosmetic defects I want to mention that you may not notice in the photos:
Chrome peeling on the aluminum mags
Scratches around the seat fairing.
nicks on the rear fender
swirl marks on some of the chrome
de-lamination on the right hand mirror glass
scratch on right mirror bracket
dent and chip on left muffler from the center stand
some scratches on the tank
rub marks on the rear turn signals from the saddle bags
some water marks on the bright brushed aluminum trim
The clear plastic on the fairing has a scratch
some of the bolts and fasteners show some corrosion setting in.
The fairing body was maroon and when I painted it black I didn't do a professional quality job.  I have another NOS Vetter bullett fairing I will include for you to paint and install. I failed to include its picture.
So... I nit picked on the cosmetics.

Here are the Mechanical problems....... Hear the crickets?
I have replaced every item that could possibly need replacing during my last ten years of ownership whether it needed it or not.
The only item needing attention is the right fork seal.
There is not a problem with the cam shaft oiling or transmission. This is an 86 and Honda had those problems resolved by then.

The ride is typical mid 80's muscle cruiser.  It is stable and smooth but falls short in the tight twisties.  There is some drive line lash at parking lot speeds.  The TRAC anti-dive control is amazing in its usefulness.
acceleration is smooth and powerful as you would expect with 117 hp on tap.  The clutch is perfect and shifting is accurate and tight.  It always starts on the first crank. The manual  choke is only needed when it has completely cooled down.
I installed a cooler thermostat so it runs at two bars on the highway and 3 around town.

Here is a list of extra parts I am including at no extra charge if you want them.
They are pictured:
NOS fuel hose
Coolant hose set
headlight bulb
saddle bags
Photocopies of every V65 Magazine article published sind 1983
Clymers manual
V65 ad brochure
3 extra mirrors
saddle bag brackets
gauge set
hand lever set
extra NOS bullett fairing
extra right fork
extra rubber relay suspender pieces
extra horn and trim ring
extra dash cover
F.O.I.L cable
Clutch cover
sissy bar side plates
reflector
fork brace
air box covers
turn signal supports
Valve tappet adjustment tool
banjo bolt covers

I have always used synthetic oil.

This bike really is an amazing example of a surviving vintage muscle cruiser, bikes like this will never be made again.
I have set my reserve way less than the bike and extra parts are worth.

I am selling this steed since I have just purchased a Honda ST1300  sport touring bike and can't justify having two bikes to maintain.

On Aug-25-13 at 06:34:29 PDT, seller added the following information:

Please note the very rare KG slider back rest and KG luggage rack!  These items sell for 750 dollars alone in this condition as a set on Ebay.  I couldn't figure out how to include their names in the listing to aid in a search for them.

More Pictures of the 2013 Honda MSX125

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

Last week, Honda revealed the modern successor to the Z50 “Monkey” bike in the new MSX125. While it’s not clear if the Honda MSX125 will be offered in North America, our original post drew a lot of positive comments from our readers so let’s hope American Honda is paying attention. The 2013 Honda MSX125 will be available in Europe however, and Honda’s European arm has released more photographs of the new model.

MotoGP should return to Suzuka

Thu, 14 Jul 2011

Suzuka was always one of the great circuits; unfortunately the Japanese track was dropped following the tragic death of Daijiro Kato in 2003 as the course was deemed too tight and dangerous for the rapid four-strokes. Owned by Honda, Suzuka is a magical place combining arching S-bends from the start of the lap, high-speed in the middle and finished off with the technical and oft racing deciding final chicane, the location of many fantastic last lap battles. However the death of Kato, and Honda’s major hope of a Japanese champion, placed a dark cloud over the 5.807 kilometres of tarmac.

Honda CG150 TITAN MIX

Wed, 11 Mar 2009

While there are certain countries around the globe that are known for their significant contribution to technological innovation within the motorcycle industry, Brazil has never been one of them. Until now, it seems. Brazilian Honda subsidiary Moto Honda da Amazonia Ltda., recently began sales of the CG150 TITAN MIX, a 150cc bike with the world’s first production flexible-fuel technology.
