Honda CBR description

2013 Honda CBR 1000RR, 2013 Honda CBR1000RR The Essential Superbike It s hard to improve on a machine that s already as good as Honda s incredible CBR1000RR. You can build a faster bike or one with more power, but probably nothing that combines power, handling, riding quality, and overall build quality to the degree this versatile open-class sportbike does. And that s a huge issue. Riders everywhere are rediscovering the fact that they want a motorcycle that sets high standards, but sets them in a balanced way. CBR riders have known that for decades. And they know another secret: a better balanced bike can actually be faster than one with just a lot of power. This year we re again offering the CBR1000RR in two versions, one with Combined Anti-Lock Braking System (C-ABS), the first ever on a production Superbike. The Details make the Difference The CBR1000RR is a perfect example of typical Honda industry-leading innovation. Combining tons of power, light weight, and refined, responsive handling with drop-dead good looks, it s equally at home carving your favorite canyon as it is collecting wins on World Superbike podiums. That's the CBR1000RR the ultimate liter-class sportbike experience. Unit Pro-Link Rear Suspension The CBR1000RR features premium suspension front and rear. In the back, the Unit Pro Link design uses a Balance Free Rear shock that uses a double-tube design for smoother and more accurate response. Layered Fairing There s no mistaking the 2013 CBR1000RR, thanks to its Layered Fairing bodywork. Lean, mean, more aggressive from front to back, it s a real attention getter, even when it s standing still. BPF Front Suspension The CBR1000RR s front suspension uses a Big Piston Fork (BPF). The 43mm Showa fork is smoother and more responsive, and gives you excellent front-end feedback. Honda Electronic Steering Damper The compact second-generation HESD helps maintain predictable high-speed handling and low-speed maneuverability. Way more sophisticated than a simple fixed-rate damper, it s one of the keys to the CBR1000RR s extraordinary handling.

2010 Honda V4 Teaser [video]

Tue, 25 Aug 2009

Based on the concept model unveiled last October at Intermot 2008, the new motorcycle is expected to be a sport-tourer powered by a 1200cc V-4 engine with variable cylinder technology which can allow it to run on only two cylinders to conserve fuel.  There are also rumors that the motorcycle will have a semi-auto gear box which will give the rider the option of going manual or automatic. Honda has a dedicated website for the V4 where you can enter for a chance to win a spot to be one of the first to test drive the new bike, unfortunately, the contest is only open to Europeans. Hit the jump to see the new promo video (you can hear what the motorcycle sounds like!) and an interview with design project leader, Teofilo Plaza.

Suzuka Eight Hour capers

Mon, 05 Sep 2011

Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making  it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.

A postcard from Moto GP Jerez

Fri, 04 May 2012

If the weather over the Jerez Moto GP weekend was dull then the atmosphere in the press room was the complete opposite.  After the carnage and chaos during the Moto 3 race, the amazing Romano Fenati (in only his second GP) had the Italian journalists celebrating as he crossed the line to win. I smiled as they simultaneously began singing ‘Y Viva Espana’ as if to signify the end of Spanish dominance in the junior GP class.
