Honda CB description

This is a 1971 Honda CB450 DOHC twin that is in beautiful original condition. I have owned, maintained and ridden the bike for awhile now. This bike has remained very well maintained and properly stored dry when not in use. I always drain and oil the fuel tank and cylinders when storing as well as periodically flush the brake fluid and motor oil.

Over the years I have rebuilt and repaired as needed, usually with NOS components. The entire hydraulic brake system has been rebuilt with oem parts in the master cylinder, new ss brake lines, and caliper rebuild kit using ss piston. The plastic swingarm bearings have been upgraded to bronze. The bike has new wheel bearings, front brake pads, drive chain, gaskets & seals, electronic ignition properly wired using all oem style connectors from vintage connectors. Several years ago I stripped the engine to the crank because one of the spark plugs was oil fouling. I found one worn valve guide causing the problem. The bottom end and transmission looked brand new. The head got new valve guides and rocker arms as these are often high wear items as well. The pistons/cyl. were measured and found to be in spec and so left original. While apart I soda blasted all the cases, head, cyl., pistons and ceramic coated the side cases. The engine was reassembled using brand new gaskets/seals and looks brand new. The bike has seen around 1000mi. a year and I adjust the valves, inspect the rocker arms and change the fluids every 500mi.

This bike is unrestored and is in beautiful original condition. I have touched up paint on the chassis over the years but most chassis paint remains original. All paint on the tins is original and looks great. I have really enjoyed maintaining and riding this bike over the years and especially feel blessed to have been able to enjoy riding it around the N. Georgia mountains. I have not seen any other unrestored CB450's in this condition. Not even the bike displayed in the Barber museum is this clean.

I am selling this bike simply because some interests have changed. I have a couple other bikes I am currently enjoying and it is just time for someone else to enjoy this bike. I have put a lot of work into keeping this bike in nice useable condition. I hope to see someone else get many years of use and enjoyment out of it.

The bike will come with a new battery and new fork boots will be included or installed. If I was going to keep it the next items I would service would be new shocks and rebuilt forks. Also, the starter spins kind of slow and could use rebuild or replaced. It works but could use some attention. These are the only known issues with the bike. Thanks for looking.  Mileage is original and the bike comes with the original dealer key chain.  The dealer is still in business.

Honda Likes to Dress Up

Fri, 31 Oct 2008

Who doesn’t love Halloween? Well my neighbor down the street who turns off all his lights and flips the sprinklers on for Halloween night doesn’t, but he’s a jerk. Honda was in a Halloween spirit when they came up with this ad campaign consisting of some of their rides “dressed” in ridiculous outfits.
