Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Still under extended warranty. The only upgrade is a K+N air filter. I rode this a bunch. The only trouble I had was the compensator bolt backing out shortly after purchasing new. Of course it was repaired and a new primary cover installed. The wheels have scratches where a sloppy (me) mechanic let the tire tool slip. I change my own, I don't recommend HD tires, they grip well but don't last very long. It just passed WV inspection so the tires and brake pads are good. I rode this five summers and some clear winter days. It was a lot of fun but now is time to let it go to another rider. All oils and engine filter get changed by me every 3K miles. It is a hoot to ride and performs well beyond my capabilities. I scare myself while riding the twisty roads. It accelerates quicker than normal Sportsters so hang on tight! The brakes will stop you quicker than you think. The 2011/2012 model years are identical except for tire brands. They have the upgraded tunable suspension that the 2009/2010 models don't have. I have it set almost to the stiffest setting. This bike is great on curvy roads and through town. On the straight highways it is a bit boring but purrs right along smoothly around 85MPH. The magazine reviews say it will do 130MPH but I lack the cajones to try. I might deliver it after the payment clears. I probably can beat the shipper's price. By the way, it no longer gets to stay in the house. The visit was for photos only.

Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary Party Is Just A Week Away

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

Harley-Davidson has been preparing for its 110th anniversary party for the past year, celebrating in 11 countries on six different continents. In the past year, Harley-Davidson employees, dealers and riders have shared thousands of amazing experiences, including a ride through the Tibetan Plateau in China, a parade along the beaches of Sao Paulo and even a Papal blessing. But now the party is coming home to Milwaukee over Labor Day weekend, which promises to be the biggest celebration of them all.  Milwaukee residents have always been cordial hosts for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts who make the journey to the City of Festivals from around the world. One Anniversary tradition is the welcoming home of thousands of riders by Milwaukee area residents who stand on the city’s highway overpasses with homemade welcome signs as riders arrive in Milwaukee.
