Harley-Davidson Softail description

2006 Harley-Davidson Softail Standard, Great Harley-Davidson styling matched to a potent motor with Fuel Injection! - In the saddle of a Harley-Davidson Softail, no road is ever lonely. Sunlight breaks through treetops to dance on chromed steel. The wind offers its constant stream of praise. And the world unfolds before you with open arms. Maybe it’s because nothing else on the road compares with the timeless hardtail styling ... and nothing else feels like a Twin Cam 88B power mill rigid-mounted to the frame. Counterbalancing takes care of all but the good vibrations. You and the motorcycle become one, united by an unbreakable bond. Then you feel the hidden rear suspension smooth out the ride with a full 4" of travel. There’s no denying you’re in the saddle of a rolling masterpiece. This year, the Softail family of custom motorcycles welcomes its latest member. We invite you to turn the page and take a gander at the clean lines of the new Heritage Softail. Additionally, all new bobtail models get a shot of adrenaline in the hindquarters — a brawny, road-hugging 200mm tire under a new wider fender. More rubber to stick to the pavement. More style to keep the eyes glued. Sometimes the best trip you can take is one back to the basics. The Softail Standard is just the bike for the job. Beautiful as seen here or decked out in Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories. The simple, classic lines begin with a raked fork. Head back to the horseshoe oil tank and the unmistakable shape of a wide bobtail fender. Once there, check out the brawny 200mm rear tire — a custom touch new for this year. It feels great teamed with the taut hidden suspension. Fire up the dual-counterbalanced, silver powder-coated Twin Cam 88B, in carb or EFI, and your primal urge to blow out of town is about to be satisfied. Just gas up and go. Nothing is more basic than that.

James Cameron’s New Movie “Avatar” to use “Motorcycle Riding Badass” template?

Thu, 20 Aug 2009

James Cameron, the genius behind such movies as Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2, True Lies, and The Abyss, has a new movie coming out this fall. “Avatar”, a sci-fi action movie, stars Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang and Michelle Rodriguez, all of whom can be seen in the new pictures released yesterday by the studio. In one of the images we see Sam Worthington wearing a Harley-Davidson shirt and sitting in a bar.  Is this the story of an average tough guy who rides motorcycles and plays pool in bars, turned action hero who saves mankind?  Does Sam’s character, “Jake Sully”, ever get on a motorcycle in the movie or just shows his Harley support by wearing the T-shirt?

Three-Year-Old Motorcycle Prodigy?

Tue, 18 Aug 2009

Even though Tiger woods started paying golf at age two, this story of a three-year-old boy from New Delhi, India is probably just as impressive, maybe more.  Azeem Khan, photographed on the Royal Enfield Bullet above, has been granted a special license by judges in India allowing him to ride his motorcycle on side roads but is not allowed out on the main roads by himself. Khan’s father had to customize the bike so that the young boy could reach the controls and prove that he could handle the motorcycle on his own. I used to sit him on my bike and he would always grab at the controls.
