Harley-Davidson Other description

up for auction is a 1946 Harley knucklehead custom which is very old and complete from it's build 40 yrs ago...this bike was built out of a stock 46 el knucklehead by famous painter, builder, fabricator, Kelsey Martin, who is still very much involved in custom work, mostly with cars these days...a guy who is like the Arlen Ness of the east coast, has been in many custom mags, who rode in the descendants, a bike club out of salem mass. back in the day. The guy I bought this from rode with him in the club, and is a fine mechanic, and stand up guy, who is always at our A.M.C.A. national meets. This bike appears to be built from a stock el, as there is cp 1035 hardware all over it, and the frame is a customized straight leg 41-46 big twin Harley, with the stock transmission, primary, rear brake, clutch,...generator,oil tank, and a very nice running stock 1946 el knucklehead motor with correct linkert carb, and nice factory correct numbers with no alterations or repairs.,except for a nice 1939 cam case cover.Gas tank is a period custom sportster type that has been narrowed to fit the slim profile of this light build, and with the hand clutch which works and shifts smoothly, it is just too much fun to ride. Headlight 'taillight brakelight work fine, generator works great,so Iv'e been taking  this out on the interstate a night when there is plenty of room to let the shaft out There is no sound like a knucklehead motor with drag pipes...the original Bates solo seat with the tag underneath works well, and you sit so low on this bike, you can walk it around while sitting on it. The bike is piece of undisturbed history that will always appreciate in value, and can be the beginning of a stock 1946 el if you wish to collect those parts while riding this bike as is...... Comes with a clear New Hampshire title and a nice period king and queen seat...I reserve the right to end this auction early as the bike is for sale locally....questions call 1-207-774-1229 .......shipping is up to you....folks with zero bid history need to contact me or bids will be cancelled...deposit ot 1,500 due whthin 48hrs of winning auction....................

On Sep-25-13 at 18:22:39 PDT, seller added the following information:

I'm getting many calls about this bike...so I'll try to answer questions...this bike was put together from a stock 46' EL 43 years ago, so there are no aftermarket parts on it..... the  motor is a stock bore stock el with the correct number linkert carb...it has a clear n.h. title and the belly numbers match.......

Laguna Seca Added to 2014 AMA Superbike Schedule

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

AMA Superbike will be racing at Laguna Seca this year after all, with AMA Pro Racing announced the addition of the Monterey, Calif., circuit to its 2014 schedule, joining the World Superbike Championship on July 11-13. Laguna Seca was not included in AMA Pro Racing’s calendar, but its addition now increases the number of rounds in the series to six. That’s still down from the nine rounds held in 2013, but the absence of Laguna Seca and its famed Corkscrew would have been an especially tough loss.

Harley-Davidson World Ride Tops 10 Million Miles; Eclipses 2012 Total by 28 Percent

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Motorcycle riders from around the world enthusiastically joined members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) on June 23 and 24 to shatter last year’s record mileage total for the Harley-Davidson World Ride by collectively logging more than 10 million miles, a 28 percent increase over the 2012 total. Launched in 2008 as HOG’s Million Mile Monday, the annual event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2012, participants logged 7,799,140 miles, but this year as riders celebrated the 110th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the 30th Anniversary of HOG that culminates this Labor Day weekend in Milwaukee, they blitzed that record by more than 25 percent, tallying an official total of 10,018,231 miles.
