2014 Ducati 899 Panigale Revealed

Traditionally, Ducati saves its big reveals for the EICMA Show in November in its native Italy, but with the company now under the helm of Audi, we will have to start looking to Germany for the major announcements. Case in point is the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show where today Ducati officially pulled the covers off its new 899 Panigale, revealing a new “Supermid” version of the 1199 Panigale using the same monocoque frame concept and Superquadro 90-degree V-Twin engine design. Ducati Desmosedici GP13 an Evolution, Not a Revolution

Bernhard Gobmeier sounded cautiously optimistic about Ducati‘s MotoGP program, speaking at the Wrooom 2013 event following the unveiling of the Desmsedici GP13 racebike. Taking over as general manager of Ducati Corse, Gobmeier acknowledged his team had a lot of ground to make up if it hopes to pose a serious threat to Honda and Yamaha. Ducati got an early start on developing its 2013 program halfway through the 2012 season when it became apparent the Desmosedici GP12 was not competitive enough against the RC213V and the M1.

Effenbert Liberty Signs McCormick to Ride Ducati 1199 Panigale in 2012 World Superstock Championship

Czech racing team Effenbert-Liberty has signed reigning Canadian Superbike Champion Brett McCormick to ride the new Ducati 1199 Panigale in the 2012 World Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. McCormick won the Canadian championship this season riding the BMW S1000RR, and he’ll be one of the first racers to compete on the Ducati 1199 Panigale which will make its world championship racing debut in the upcoming World Superstock season. The Panigale will be available to Superstock racers this season but won’t make its debut in the World Superbike class until 2013.
