2014 Ducati 899 Panigale Revealed

Traditionally,  Ducati saves its big reveals for the EICMA Show in November in its native Italy, but with the company now under the helm of Audi, we will have to start looking to Germany for the major announcements. Case in point is the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show where today Ducati officially pulled the covers off its new 899 Panigale, revealing a new “Supermid” version of the 1199 Panigale using the same monocoque frame concept and Superquadro 90-degree V-Twin engine design. Available now on Ducati.com, you can download audio clips of your favourite Ducati motorcycle for use as your cell phone’s ringtone (you can also hear sound clips of the engine reving or roaring down a race track, but you’ll have to register to download a ringtone).

Audi-Ducati Discussions No Longer Exclusive

Audi‘s window for exclusive negotiation rights with Ducati has closed, but the German automaker is still expected to announce the acquisition of the Italian motorcycle brand this week. Volkswagen-owned Audi had exclusive rights to discuss acquiring Ducati until April 15, and though other suitors may now begin negotiations, Audi remains the front-runner. Last week, Reuters reported a deal could be announced as soon as April 18, the day before the Volkswagen Group’s annual shareholder meeting.
