No reserve auction on this 1965 BSA Hornet, the auction starts at only $1. There is a title for this motorcycle. It is a real 1965 Hornet. This one came from the factory with a close ration gearbox. The close ratio gearbox is indicated by the “c” after the model code A65E. The motor and frame numbers did not match on 65 Hornets. This bike is titled to the frame number A50B8085, which also indicates 1965 as the year of manufacture. FRAME: A50B 8085 Motor: A65EC 1475 The motor turns over, but the bike is not in running condition. We took the plugs out, put it in gear, and pushed it to make sure the pistons go up and down. Something is broken in the kick starter mechanism and/or gearbox that prevents the kick start pedal from operating. We have no taken anything apart, nor inspected this problem any further. It is apparent that this BSA has been parked for a long time. It needs a full on restoration and motor rebuild. The gearbox does shift through the gears. This bike has the correct fiberglass fuel tank. The tank does not have any cracks or structural damage. It is missing one sidecover, and some other stuff. Not a complete package, but a good start for a restoration. I am pretty sure the headlight and headlight mount are Bates items. The other pipe, side cover, and box of misc will ship with this bike. Please be sure to study the photographs carefully. I noticed the rear fender stay had been modified, and the rear brake stay was incorrect. It is possible that there are other parts that are incorrect or modified that I did not notice. I do not know if the indicated mileage is correct; I suspect not. Bonhams To Auction Bruce Smith Collection Of Original Illustrations
Fri, 11 Oct 2013On October 20, Bonhamswill be auctioning off a collection of original illustrations by Bruce Smith from the 1960s and 1970s. Each one will be signed by Smith on heavy cartridge paper. The collection is comprised of cutaway illustrations of a 1963 Royal Enfield Interceptor 750cc, Chris Vincent’s 1964 BSA 650cc A65 Race Outfit, and a 1966 Greeves Racer, the largest of this series being45cm x 62cm.
Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub

Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
