UP FOR SALE IS THIS 1969 BSA LIGHTNING. KNOWN IN THE LOCAL AREA AS "THE FALCON". THE BIKE IS A LOCAL CUSTOM FROM THE EARLY 70'S. THE ENGINE AND FRAME NUMBERS MATCH AND THE FRAME IS NOT RAKED
 IT HAS A COOL CUSTOM TANK, SEAT AND SISSY BAR. IT ALSO HAS MCM FORK COVERS ALONG WITH A RECTANGLE HEAD LIGHT.  THE STOCK GAUGES WORK ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS. IT HAS MANY CHROME PARTS SUCH AS FENDER STAYS,BRAKE ROD, CHAIN GUARD AND SWING ARM. THERE IS SOME PITTING ON SOME OF THE CHROME. THE PAINT DOES HAVE SOME SCRATCHES AND FLAKING. THERE IS A CRACK AROUND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CUSTOM SISSY BAR AND A CRACK BEGINNING ON THE RIGHT SIDE (SEE PICTURES). IT RUNS AND RIDES GREAT. THIS BIKE SHOULD BE SERVICED AND THE TIRES REPLACED BEFORE RIDING. THIS IS A GREAT FIND AND A COOL OLD TIME CAPSULE.

Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub

Back in 1997, an unusual motorcycle appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post. Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.

A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.

There’s something distinctly cool about old British motorcycles. From the wire wheels, the minimal bodywork, and the exposed engines which give off a thunderous bark, I’ve always loved looking at old Triumphs, BSAs and the like from the 60s.  I’ve never owned one though. The reason is simple: old British bikes are needy little maintenance machines notorious for the odd oil leak.
