Up for sale is this 2008 BMW R1200 GS. Original Owner. The bike has been meticulously cared for and maintained. It has never been dropped or laid down, and is in excellent condition. Always garage kept and covered. Regular BMW maintenance always done on time, and has never had any mechanical issues whatsoever. Survey Says Harley-Davidson and BMW Motorcycles Less Reliable Than Japanese – But Owners Don’t Care

A new survey conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center finds BMW and Harley-Davidson  owners are much more likely to report major problems with their motorcycles than owners of Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles. The survey, which will appear on the April 2013 issue of Consumer Reports, says one in three BMW owners reported experiencing a major problem with their bikes in the last four years. Harley-Davidson owners were slightly better, with one in four reporting serious issues.

BMW Posts Record First-Half Figures

BMW Motorrad sold a record 60,580 motorcycles over the first six months of 2011, a new record for the German manufacturer. First half figures were 6.3% higher than the 57,015 units sold in the same period in 2010. BMW reports strong demand across all its models, with the Boxer engine R-series models leading the way.

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
