’50s BMW Scooter Prototype to Star at 2012 Concours di Motociclette

BMW is entering the scooter market this year with its C600 Sport and C650 GT maxi-scooters, but the German manufacturer almost entered the scooter segment nearly 60 years earlier. In the 1950s, BMW produced a pair of scooter prototypes it called the R10. The first prototype produced in 1953 was equipped with a 175cc Single producing about 8hp while the 1954 prototype (pictured above) was equipped with a 200cc producing about 10hp.

The very successful viral video BMW created for its S1000RR sportbike earlier this year has yet again been made fun of by another manufacturer, this time being Aprilia with their RSV4. BMW to Unveil Five New Models Including Electric Scooter Production Model

BMW announced it will unveil at least five new models over the next few months, starting with the production version of the C evolution electric scooter. BMW will likely reveal most of these new models at the 2013 EICMA Show in Milan in November but the new electric scooter will make its public debut tomorrow at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. “No fewer than five new models will be unveiled to the public in the coming months.
