BMW Motorrad Days 2013 Draws 40,000 Visitors

More than 40,000 Beemerphiles made their way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, for BMW Motorrad Days on July 5-7. The 13th annual event at the Bavarian resort town saw visitors from more than 40 countries join together to celebrate BMW motorcycles. This year’s event was particularly notable for the 90th anniversary of motorcycles bearing the Bavarian Motor Works brand.

Training with Marco Melandri

New BMW World Superbike recruit, Marco Melandri has been using the Bavarian manufacturer's connection to Husqvarna to get himself a nice new motocross bike for the off-season. Melandri has been riding the Husky TC250 in preparation for the 2012 season, whilst the winter testing ban was in effect. WSBK 2013: Jerez Race Report

Eugene Laverty did everything he could, scoring a pair of race wins but it was not enough as Tom Sykes rode smartly and conservatively at the season finale in Spain, securing his first ever World Superbike Championship. Sykes landed in Jerez with a 37-point lead over Laverty and a 38-point lead over Sylvain Guintoli. While Laverty battled Marco Melandri to win Race One, Sykes coasted comfortably in third for most of the race to score 16 points, enough to clinch the title.
