BMW Other description

1998 BMW R1200C, We are always glad to see R1200C's. This one is in Night Black with White pinstripe and has ABS, BMW leather side cases, BMW leather rider and passenger seats, tall windshield with additional wind guards and GG Technik passenger backrest. Very low miles with only 22,779 on the clock. Early R1200C models had a few chrome issues and this one has the same; the usual pitting chrome on the wheels and flaking chrome on the side covers. Both of course do not take away from the enjoyment of riding these bikes. Our safety inspection has been done and we have replaced the front and rear tires and front and rear brake pads. We also completed a 24,000 mile service, installed a new battery and flushed the brake and clutch lines. Our inspection revealed the fuel tank lining was not holding up well and we cleaned and had it re-lined. If you're looking for a solid R1200C with low miles and current with its scheduled service this is a good one. Call to reserve this bike. IIHS Asks NHTSA to Make ABS Brakes Mandatory for All Street-legal Motorcycles in US

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute have submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration petitioning in favor of making anti-lock brakes mandatory for all new on-highway motorcycles. The letter, addressed to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator, included a recent IIHS study on the effects of ABS on motorcycle fatal crash rates. The report found ABS technology reduces the rate of fatal crashes by 31%, while collision claim rates were 20% lower with ABS-equipped motorcycles.

BMW Helps Vertically Challenged

Tue, 02 Dec 2008

No matter where they go or what they do, it seems that people who are vertically challenged always get the ‘short’ end of the stick, pardon the pun. Historically, if a pint-sized person wanted to get into the hobby of motorcycling, their choices were limited to bikes like the Suzuki Marauder, Ninja 250 or HD Sportster (the thought alone makes my back hurt.) BMW Motorrad now has good news for riders who either need or simply prefer a lower seat height, but do not want to compromise on model choice. BMW is the first motorcycle manufacturer to launch a range of models that can be ordered from the factory with lowered suspension – to provide customers with low seat height options.

Victory VS. BMW Police Bike Challenge + Video

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

A notice to any potential law breakers out there: Victory is getting in on the police bike business. Using stock Cross Country models modified with only lights and sirens, the Victorys may not be as ill-equipped for chases (at least slow speed, parking lot chases) as you might think. Just check out this video below for proof.
